15. Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer (Cloud9) – 74 OVR

I don’t get why so many people sleep on Nisqy, as his stats are fairly solid compared to the other mids NA is sending. His 4.31 aKDA is top four at Worlds for mids and he doesn’t sacrifice helping his teammates (110.8% aKP to do so). Although his adjusted GPM (410 aGPM) is lower than Jensen’s, he outstrips Liquid’s mid laner in damage, vision, and laning.

14. Stephen “Triple” Li (MAMMOTH) – 75 OVR

The lone bright spot for this Mammoth team, Triple is above average or exceptional in every category. In particular, his high damage numbers (556 raw DPM, 579.1 aDPM) make me confident that this is a guy who his team could lean on to carry them. Unfortunately, his stats against a lower-level region aren’t quite strong enough to boost him into the top tier of mids at the World Championship.

13. Hsieh “Apex” Chia-Wei (AHQ) – 75 OVR

Another mid laner who is more on the supportive side, Apex actually controls vision better than any other mid at the tournament (1.28 VSPM). He sacrifices a lot of gold (391.3 aGPM) and pressure to carries in the other lane (mainly his bot lane) but still manages to keep his deaths low. Don’t expect Apex to have any pop-off games, but he can certainly hold his own in a group against Jensen.

12. Nuttapong “G4” Menkasikan (MEGA) – 76 OVR

I’m actually shocked that G4 got placed this high on our mid lane ranking, given his below-average KDA numbers (2.6 deaths per game, 3.22 aKDA, 93.6% aKP). Luckily for him, his high damage output and strong laning phase stats were enough to outweigh these poor numbers.

11. Song “Rookie” Eui-jin (Invictus Gaming) – 76 OVR

We’re hitting the point now where things are going to start getting spicy and the hate for these stats will start to flow in, so let me be clear. Rookie is, talent-wise, one of the best mid laners on the planet and I wouldn’t think to claim that he can’t outplay almost anyone on this list (and probably eight or nine of the players ranked ahead of him). But, based on performance this year, this is where Rookie belongs.

Rookie had an inconsistent summer marked by a lot of down points. He averages the most deaths per game of any mid at Worlds (3.1, which is a death per game more than average) and his 2.22 aKP is also the lowest for mid laners. Worse yet, his 91.1% aKP means that his overall Kill Efficiency is second-worst among mids at 2.02.

In short, Rookie hasn’t strictly been suffering because iG had been on a down-turn this summer. Instead, it’s quite likely that his poor play was a large part of the reason for his team’s slump.
