New Additions

Galio

Once again, we see the Worlds meta creeping into solo queue. Once knocked out of the meta with the removal of his ability to Flash > taunt, Galio has re-emerged as a support pick following some recent buffs. Now he’s more used for his global ult, but unfortunately, he hasn’t yet risen to be anything other than a fringe support.

Shaco

We detailed the massive issues that the recent buffs caused for Shaco jungle, but the buffs also helped push him into the support role. Although we only have him in the D tier, Shaco now has a 55.9% win rate in the support role, which is the best win rate for the position.

New subtractions

None

Rising Champions

Blitzcrank (A+ to S tier)
Bard (A to A+ tier)
Morgana (A to A+ tier)
Fiddlesticks (B to B+ tier)
Xerath (C to B tier)

Observations

None of these champions got direct buffs in 9.20, but a few of them had very small changes to the tier list. These changes were so small that they barely nudged a few champions – namely Morgana, Bard, and Fiddlesticks – up a tier. While it’s great for them to move up a bit, it’s not likely the case that they’re actually stronger than they were in 9.19. In fact, Morgana was a pick that we wanted to keep an eye on last patch, to see if her slight drop would stabilize.

After Rocket Grabbing an A+ grade in 9.19, Blitzcrank has continued to rise into the S tier, despite the 9.20 nerfs. In fact, his win rate has actually dropped by over 1.5%. It’s very possible that he’ll drop down next patch.

Finally, we have Xerath, who rose in the tier list despite also suffering a minor drop in his win rate (about 0.5%). Now, this rise could be due to Xerath being a solid pick into Galio, but he’s also getting destroyed by the other “Flavor of the Month” pick in Shaco. I’ll watch and see if Xerath rebounds in the next patch.
