New Additions

None

New subtractions

Tahm Kench
Karma
Viktor

Both Tahm and Karma were on the receiving ends of some nerfs directly trying to hit their laning power (though Karma’s nerfs were aimed more at her top lane power than the nerfs to Tahm, which were aimed at hitting his laning strength in the support role). Both were in and out of the F tier since then and both are unlikely to reappear.

However, Viktor was once a staple of the top lane meta early on in Season 9. He did drop off our tier list aggregation every now and again, but I can’t help but wonder if this is it for him.

Rising Champions

Kayle (A to S tier)
Garen (B+ to S tier)
Illaoi (B+ to A tier)
Fiora (B+ to A tier)
Camille (B to B+ tier)
Quinn (B to B+ tier)
Tryndamere (C to B tier)
Aatrox (C to B tier)
Cho’Gath (D to C tier)
Jayce (D to C tier)

Observations

We’ll discuss Garen a bit later on, as he received direct buffs in Patch 9.20. A few champions also got only slight improvements to their ranking from the previous patch, without also seeing their win rate or pick rate change to indicate that their power level in the meta has actually shifted. So, champions like IllaoiFioraCamilleQuinnTryndamereAatroxCho’Gath, and Jayce are all likely targets to drop back down to their previous tier in the next patch.

Although Kayle‘s win rate in the top lane has not been increasing of late, she does currently have the second-best win rate in that role. This is despite the fact that her pick rate has been climbing at an impressive rate over the last few patches. From Patch 9.19 to 9.20, her pick rate increased by almost 3% (her current 12.1% pick rate is second in the role).
