Based on this tier list, we have also taken the average ranking of each champion within every Class and Origin in Teamfight Tactics, which will give our aggregated ranking so you know which synergies are best. One thing to note is that these rankings are purely based on the average champion strength within that group, not the strength of the buff the synergy provides. We are assuming for purposes of this tier list that champions are ranked based on not only cost and statistics, but whether they can be part of a powerful synergy.

Best compositions

In accordance with our rankings, we’ll now be introducing a new list of recommended team compositions based on our Class and Origin rankings, along with the units you should buy in each one, as well as the best iterations to pair those comps with. We will put an asterisk next to the units that should be the main focus of these comps, to get to 2 or 3-stars and put items on. Note that when we recommend specific units of a Class/Origin but omit others for your pairings, we are saying these are the options we would consider to be above average or worthwhile additions to your comp.

  • Elementalists – Anivia/Lissandra, Kennen (*), Brand (*)
    • Pair with Demons by adding Swain (Swain + Brand)
    • Pair with Glacials by building both Anivia/Lissandra or adding Sejuani
      • If adding Sejuani, can also add Elementalists + Glacials + Knights for a full team of Anivia/Lissandra, Kennen, Brand, Sejuani, Kayle, Garen
  • Imperials – Darius, Katarina, Draven (*), Swain (*)
    • Pair with Elementalists by adding Kennen and Brand (Swain + Kennen + Brand)
    • Pair with Shapeshifters by adding Shyvana and Gnar (Swain + Gnar + Shyvana)
      • You can combine this into a full Imperial + Shapeshifter + Dragon comp if you go Darius, Katarina, Draven, Swain, Gnar, Shyvana, Pantheon/Aurelion Sol
    • Pair with Knights by adding one or three of Garen/Sejuani/Kayle (Darius + Garen/Sejuani/Kayle)
    • Pair with Blademaster by adding Yasuo and any other Blademaster (Draven + Yasuo + any Blademaster)
  • Ninja – Zed, Shen, Kennen (*), Akali (*)
    • Pair with Elementalists by adding Brand and Swain (Kennen + Brand + Swain)
    • Pair with Assassins by adding Pyke or Kai’Sa (Zed + Akali + Pyke/Kai’Sa)
    • Pair with Blademasters by adding Draven and Yasuo (Shen + Draven + Yasuo)
  • Glacial

    – Sejuani (*), Anivia (*), Ashe (*), Volbear/Braum

  • Pair with Elementalists by adding Kennen or Swain (Anivia + Lissandra + Kennen/Swain)
  • Pair with Knights by adding Garen/Kayle (Sejuani + Garen/Kayle)
  • Pair with

    Rangers

by adding any Ranger (Kindred is preferable, but all others will work).

    Concluding notes

While there’s not much more these aggregations can tell us with certainty with regards to comps or items, here is what our data can tell you about what to look for within your next Teamfight Tactics game.

      • Void + Brawlers is one of the strongest comps at the moment, but it’s a high-risk comp because of the volatility in those traits. For instance, Rek’Sai is one of the worst units in the game even though she bridges these two comps. Additionally, Kai’Sa is a bit unreliable as a primary carry.
      • Despite being buffed Guardians remain the worst choice for a frontline for your team. You’re almost always better off going Knights or Brawlers instead, or even Shapeshifters.
      • Similarly, Draven was unaffected by the nerfs and remains the premiere reliable carry to build a team comp around. Imperials remain so generally strong because they can slot in with so many good comps like Shapeshifters and Knights.
      • That said, Jinx has re-emerged as an alternative late game carry to Draven. Gunslingers are pretty weak overall, but she could be a good complement to a Dragon or Elementalist comp, especially if you want the Hextech synergy.
