League of Legends: The 5 best mid laners for climbing ranked

Fizz

A lot of melee assassins in the mid lane like Talon and Zed tend to give lower elo players a bit of difficulty in how to pilot them. Even though low elo players have a hard time dealing with laning against the high burst of assassins, that makes little difference if the assassin player doesn’t know how to execute.

Enter Fizz, a champion with multiple dashes in his kit (including one that grants him untargetability) and only one skill shot. With a fairly binary engage pattern (dash in, dump your damage, backflip out) Fizz is one of the easier-to-execute assassins in the game. That’s a major reason why he has a win rate of over 52% in the lower elos.

Yasuo

Most people will think me crazy for saying this, but Yasuo is probably the best AD mid laner in League of Legends. Yes, his kit is incredibly difficult to pilot, but when you consider all the OP crap he has baked into it plus the fact that his win rate in Silver and below (50.8%) is higher than the other primary AD mid laners Talon (48.1%) and Zed (48.9%), the pick begins to make a bit more sense.

For starters, Yasuo has that unbelievable ability to carry team fights in the mid and late game, regardless of how far behind he is, if his teammates set him up for his ult. Yasuo also isn’t as vulnerable to ganks in the mid lane as he tends to be in the longer top lane. Finally, with mostly ranged champions playing against Yasuo in the mid lane, he gets more of a chance to dodge their damage with all his dashes and block their big abilities with his W – Windwall.

Apologies in advance for doing this to all you low elo mid laners having to face Yasuo. Or the other four players in games who will have to play along with a Yasuo. But if you can manage to control his difficult kit, this is actually a fairly strong champion to climb with.
