There weren’t any really big transactions to be had on Day 2 of free agency for the LCS but one North American League of Legends team did upgrade their roster.

While Day 1 of free agency in North America opened with a bang, Day 2 saw only a few League of Legends transactions in NA. Most of the news today involved finalizing moves that were confirmed yesterday, but there was one big move that will have a massive ripple effect across the LCS landscape.

100 Thieves acquire Meteos

In the only new move of the day, 100 Thieves appears ready to make up for past mistakes, bringing back former OpTic jungler William “Meteos” Hartman.

Grade: B+

Meteos was one of the top three junglers in the LCS in 2019, so adding a player of that caliber with a veteran pedigree is obviously a good move. More importantly, Meteos is an NA native which gives 100 Thieves more wiggle room to potentially field a line-up that includes their two high-profile imports in top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho and ADC Bae “Bang” Jun-sik. Given how in-demand native junglers are, this acquisition makes total sense.

In addition, Meteos will be replacing a jungler in Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider who was, in my mind, one of the worst LCS junglers last year. Although many praised Amazing’s veteran presence as being a huge reason that 100 Thieves turned things around in the summer after a disastrous spring, in Meteos 100 Thieves will get all those benefits with a player who is generally just better in terms of early game pathing.

My one reservation for this move is the fact that Meteos was once kicked from this team just a few short years ago. This may be a marriage of convenience which could go sour very fast if the team struggles. Yes, a lot of those past issues could be due to former coach Pr0lly, but getting back together with your ex rarely works out for anyone.
