Shield Champions

These champions are known for having an actual shield in-game to provide them with defense and support in team fights. If defense is more you thing then look no further than these three.

Braum

I think Braum is absolutely the first name that comes to mind when you think of shield champions. Heck, there’s even a song about standing behind Braum and how his shield will protect you. Two of his abilities are directly involving this shield being used as a blocking tool, most notably his E, so if defense with a shield is more your style select Braum.

Leona

Leona is a cool champion in the fact she has both a sword and a shield. I think she is more known for her shield though, using it with her Q – Shield of Daybreak to stun an opponent. Her w shield also grants her damage reduction, armor and magic resist. So if you want a support with lots of crowd control in her shield I would select Leona.

Poppy

Poppy is the final champion that has a physical shield in the game even though she’s also known for another weapon in her hammer. The shield is her passive and has her throw it at a target and then pick it up to gain a temporary shield.  This gives Poppy even more defense to be able to tank hits and dish them out with her hammer.
