LCS: 2020 Spring Split Player Power Ranking for Week 1
By Josh Tyler
Jungle
1. Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett (TSM)
With all the issues surrounding TSM, it’s oddly refreshing to be able to say that their jungle play is not one of them. Despite the fact that all the junglers who left the Talent Suppression Machine recently are all in our top five after Week 1, their newest acquisition has shown to be far ahead of the rest.
Dardoch had the second-highest jungle forward percentage (time spent in or beyond the river, not including objective takes) and that netted him massive leads at 15. His G/CS/XP split of 784/8/866 gave him the biggest gold and experience leads in the early game among all junglers. It’s a small sample size and TSM lost both of those games, yes, but if Dardoch’s mental doesn’t destroy him, TSM may have found their jungler.
2. Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen (Evil Geniuses)
3. Robert “Blaber” Huang (Cloud9)
4. Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen (FlyQuest)
5. Jonathan “Grig” Armao (Dignitas)
6. Raymond “Wiggily” Griffin (CLG)
Like his teammate, Wiggily is getting a lot of criticism for poor early gameplay that has hindered his team. In fact, the biggest problem I have with Wiggily isn’t his questionable early game decisions, but his lack of pressure. At 17.3% jungle forward percentage, Wiggily was the least-aggressive jungler in the early game during Week 1.
7. William “Meteos” Hartman (100 Thieves)
8. Jake “Xmithie” Puchero (Immortals)
9. Can “Closer” Çelik (Golden Guardians)
10. Shern “Shernfire” Cherng Tai (Team Liquid)
ShernfireRemember in my Week 1 team rankings when I said didn’t play that bad and wasn’t the reason TL lost? Well, after reviewing the tape and the stat line, I’m gonna walk that statement back. Shernfire was another passive jungler in the early game (18.9% jungle forward percentage) and his five deaths per game are the most of any jungler. On the positive side, though, he is top five among junglers in vision score per minute (“VSPM”) and he has few of those back-breaking isolating deaths.
