8. Blademaster

Description: The old reliable, Blademasters will now be in all three of the first TFT sets. It functions the same way as it normally does (granting bonus chance to do extra attacks) but this time it will only grant bonus chance to do two extra times. So it won’t give more or less than two additional attacks and the chance to get extra hits just changes based on how many Blademasters you have (3/6 units).

Champions

  • Fiora (1g)
  • Xayah (1g)
  • Shen (2g)
  • Yasuo (2g)
  • Master Yi (3g)
  • Irelia (4g)
  • Kayle (4g)

Thoughts: So this class has seven total champions with a 3/6 split. Most importantly, it has two 1g units and two more 2g units, which indicates to me it’s going to be more of an early-spiking comp.

9. Vanguard

Description: Vanguards gain bonus armor (2/4 units).

Champions

  • Leona (1g)
  • Poppy (1g)
  • Mordekaiser (2g)
  • Jayce (3g)
  • Wukong (4g)

Thoughts: Another returning synergy from TFT Set 1, this is basically the repurposed Knights. Knights ended Set 1 strong because of how strong the 1 cost units (Garen and Darius) were and how strong their Origins (Noble and Imperial) were. However, the 1 and 2 cost units for Vanguard have some of the weakest corresponding Origins (Leona is Cybernetic, Poppy is Star Guardian, and Mordekaiser is Dark Star), which makes me worried that the earl game power Knights gave won’t translate in Set 3.

10. Sniper

Description: Snipers deal increased damage for every hex of distance between themselves and their targets, making this the perfect Class for a Rapidfire Cannon user (2 units).

Champions

  • Caitlyn (1g)
  • Ashe (3g)
  • Jhin (4g)

Thoughts: While I like the sort of power curve and skill expression via positioning that this synergy gives, I am concerned that this Class appears to be coming online in the mid and later portions of the game. At that point, frontline units will have resistances and/or Infiltrators may be able to one-shot Snipers before they can even do their damage.
