11. Brawler

Brawlers are another throwback to Set 1, and they’re bringing back three old friends to the Class (Blitzcrank, Vi, and Cho’Gath). While Brawlers were never really OP, they always made for a good frontline.

Champions

  • Malphite (1g)
  • Blitzcrank (2g)
  • Vi (3g)
  • Cho’Gath (3g)

Thoughts

In comparison to Set 1, Brawlers will get the same amount of bonus health at 2 Brawlers as they did (200) and more at 4 Brawlers (750 vs 500 in Set 1). However, the tradeoff is that in Set 1 you could go to 6 Brawlers and get 900 bonus health on each, whereas now four is the max. Ultimately, Brawlers can be useful as a throw-in tank trait but they’re never going to be what you build your team around.

12. Protector

Description: Protectors gain a shield scaling off their max health after casting their ability (2/4 units).

Champions

  • Jarvan (1g)
  • Rakan (2g)
  • Xin Zhao (2g)
  • Neeko (3g)

Thoughts: Given that none of the Protector units are above 3g, this is clearly meant to be an early game comp. However, it’s too situational (it depends on getting your ult off and having a fair amount of max health) to really outclass Brawlers, who get raw stats off their synergy.

13. Starship

Description: Champions continuously circle the arena and cannot basic attack.

Champions

  • Aurelion Sol (5g)

Thoughts: This is basically the Alchemist trait from Set 2, but worse since the Alchemist couldn’t be CC’ed. Even then, the Alchemist trait itself didn’t really matter to the single champion in the Class and that will likely be the case here.
