TFT: Ranking Every Single Unit in Set 3
By Josh Tyler
5-Cost Champions
1. Miss Fortune
Origin: Valkyrie (3/5)
Class: Blaster (2/5) / Mercenary (5/5)
Synergy: With her ult, the Valkyrie trait will be extremely powerful and the Blaster, while not massively crucial to her kit, will also be quite good. (5/5)
Ultimate (Bullet Time): Channels and fires 12 waves of bullets in a 45° cone at the farthest target for 2.25 seconds, dealing a total of 500 / 900 / 9001 magic damage to all enemies within over the duration. Can be upgraded in three different ways. (4/5)
Overall rating: 19/20
2. Gangplank
Origin: Space Pirate (1/5)
Class: Demolitionist (5/5) / Mercenary (5/5)
Synergy: These traits don’t go together but all of them (yes, even Space Pirate) help Gangplank in some way. It’s not a situation like others where multiple traits give him flexibility into multiple comps, but more that they all let GP be more powerful. (3/5)
Ultimate (Orbital Strike): Calls down a large orbital strike around 3-hex his target after 2 second delay, dealing 550 / 750 / 9001 magic damage to all enemies in that area for 2 seconds. This can be upgraded in three different ways. (4/5)
Overall rating: 18/20
3. Thresh
Origin: Chrono (5/5)
Class: Mana-Reaver (4/5)
Synergy: Very good supportive traits, but they don’t quite have the same level of synergy with Thresh’s kit or each other as the Star Guardian/Mystic does. (4/5)
Ultimate (Temporal Passage): Tosses his lantern towards 1 / 1 / 9 random units on your bench, pulling them into the current combat and granting them and himself 25 / 50 / 200 bonus mana. Traits are unaffected. (5/5)
Overall rating: 18/20
4. Lulu
Origin: Celestial (4/5)
Class: Mystic (4/5)
Synergy: Just as good as the supportive traits Soraka has. Lulu will challenge her for best utility champion in TFT Set 3. (5/5)
Ultimate (Mass Polymorph): Polymorphs the 2 / 4 / 12 nearest enemies for 4 / 4 / 8 seconds, rendering them unable to attack or cast, and causing them to hop around aimlessly. Polymorphed enemies take 5 / 10 / 25% increased damage (5/5)
Overall rating: 18/20
5. Aurelion Sol
Origin: Rebel (4/5)
Class: Starship (5/5)
Synergy: Being the only Starship makes picking a synergy power kind of difficult. The Rebel trait is good in almost all cases though, but it doesn’t add to make his kit significantly stronger. (3/5)
Ultimate (Mobilize the Fleet): Launches fighters that fly out to random enemies, each dealing 90 / 150 / 750 magic damage and then return to him. Launches all ready fighters plus 3 additional when he casts. Fighters prefer to target nearby enemies. (3/5)
Overall rating: 15/20
6. Ekko
Origin: Cybernetic (2/5)
Class: Infiltrator (3/5)
Synergy: This is the frustrating thing about Ekko because I should want to load him up with items as my main damage threat. The Infiltrator Class on him makes that abundantly clear. Unfortunately, it feels like his synergy will only be half-realized. (2/5)
Ultimate (Chronobreak): Shatters the timeline, freezing all units in time before attacking each enemy, dealing 200 / 450 / 2000 bonus magic damage and applying on-hit effects. Ekko cannot die while he has stopped time. (5/ce5)
Overall rating: 12/20
