League of Legends: 5 Best Top Lane Champions on Patch 10.6
Here are our five best top lane champions for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends solo queue ranked ladder on Patch 10.6!
We’re just three days in and Patch 10.6 is already having a huge impact on the top lane meta! The Teleport and item changes are having their say, but the champion buffs and nerfs are the main factors in deciding which champions are the best top lane champions in League of Legends right now:
5) Kled
52.87% Win Rate | 4.1% Pick Rate | 3.2% Ban Rate
Although he has never reached the promised land of S tier, Kled has been a mainstay of the top lane A tier for the entirety of Season 10 so far. This is because he has all the tools required for a top laner to be successful in League of Legends.
In lane, Kled is a constant threat with Jousting and Bear Trap on a Rope always well within range for a small trade or extended duel.
As for the later stages of the game, he’s both an accomplished split-pusher and team fighter, with Chaaaaaaaarge!!! acting as an escape route on a side lane or engage tool to get the fight started.
4) Fiora
51.35% Win Rate | 7.9% Pick Rate | 11.6% Ban Rate
Fiora is in the same boat as Kled. The Grand Duelist has never cemented herself as a top-three top laner in 2020 but has always been on the edge of the S tier, waiting for a small buff or nerf to push her up.
However, unlike Kled, Fiora prefers to do her work on a side lane due to the immense 1v1 utility offered by Grand Challenge as well as the outplay potential of Riposte. Give her too much time in the top or bot lane and she’ll rip your base to shreds.
3) Darius
50.09% Win Rate | 9.7% Pick Rate | 44.1% Ban Rate
Speaking of ripped to shreds, Patch 10.6 attempted to do exactly that to Darius with Crippling Strike and Apprehend nerfs. Nevertheless, he’s clung onto the S tier and remains a top-three top laner, even after the changes.
Ultimately, Darius has too much damage in his kit right now and is unmatched in terms of the top lane 1v1, particularly during the laning phase. A trade that starts with an Apprehend-Decimate combo is enough to reduce any champion to half HP and that’s even without jungle assistance.
2) Garen
51.59% Win Rate | 10.8% Pick Rate | 17.7% Ban Rate
Garen was also targeted with nerfs on Patch 10.6 but has somehow come out unscathed so far. Despite losing 0.5 Magic Resistance per Level and 17% Crit Strike ratio on Judgment, the Might of Demacia has retained an impressive 51.59% win rate on the current patch.
The thing about Garen is how obnoxious he is to deal with at all stages of the game. He’s annoyingly tanky, especially with Courage active, and can run you down for what feels like forever with Decisive Strike.
That’s not to mention the breakdown-inducing 1.5 second Q silence and surprisingly high execute damage of Demacian Justice.
1) Wukong
54.27% Win Rate | 8.8% Pick Rate | 36.5% Ban Rate
League of Legends players will be SHOCKED to learn that another new champion release/rework is broken in solo queue! Who could have seen it coming!?
As if that 54.27% win rate wasn’t bad enough, Wukong has actually received hotfix BUFFS over the last 24 hours. Yes, buffs.
If you’re on blue side, first pick Wukong. If you’re on red side, ban Wukong. Simple!
Who do you think are the best top lane champions on Patch 10.6? Which top lane champions would you like to see buffed on Patch 10.7?
