Best compositions

In accordance with our rankings of the best champions, Classes and Origins, we now give you our best comps in Patch 10.8 based on the rankings from our TFT tier list. This will denote the units you should buy in each comp, as well as the best supplemental synergies to pair those comps with. We will also include any variations, advantages, or disadvantages to be aware of in specific Galaxies, if applicable.

We will put an asterisk next to the units that should be the main focus of these comps, to get to 2 or 3-stars and put items on. Note that when we recommend specific units of a Class/Origin but omit others for your pairings, we are saying these are the options we would consider to be above average or worthwhile additions to your comp.

  • 6 Cybernetic: Ekko, Lucian (*), Vi, Irelia (*), Leona, Fiora
    • Round out the comp with
      • Miss Fortune for Blasters along with Kayle for Valkyries and Blademasters (this should be your go-to full comp and is ideal if you have a strong Irelia).
      • Ezreal (Chrono/Blaster) and Thresh (Chrono and Mana-Reaver) if you have a strong Lucian and/or are slow rolling for 3-star Lucian, Fiora, Leona, and/or Vi.
    • Works well in
      • Neekoverse (to either 3-star Lucian or get additional Irelias, Kayles, Miss Fortunes).
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get an Irelia with an item you can build off of, ideally a BF sword).
  • Blademaster/Valkyrie: Kayle (*), Miss Fortune, Irelia (*), Shen, Yasuo, Master Yi, Fiora
    • Round out comp with
      • Lucian or Leona (for Cybernetics) if you have a strong Irelia.
      • Blitzcrank (for Chrono). If possible to get to ten units (Superdense Galaxy or getting a Force of Nature), add Thresh and Ezreal as well.
      • Aurelion Sol (for Rebels) only if you have Yasuo and/or Master Yi at 3-stars. A Sol is also a good spot for any miscellaneous tank/AP items you can’t slot onto your primary carries.
    • Works well in
      • Neekoverse (to get Kayle and Irelia to 2-stars quickly)
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get Irelia or Kayle off the first Carousel with an item they can use).
  • Celestial/Protectors: Lulu, Xin Zhao (*), Rakan (*), Ashe, Xayah, Kassadin, Jarvan IV, Neeko
    • Round out comp with
      • Soraka (for Mystics) if enemies are building Sorcerer comps.
      • Jhin (for Snipers) if you choose to stack items on your Ashe.
    • Works well in
      • Medium Legend-verse (you’ll have a larger health pool to roll for 3-star Xin and Rakan)
      • Trade Sector (take advantage of the free re-roll to try and get the afore-mentioned Xin and Rakan ASAP).
  • Dark Star: Jhin (*), Shaco (*), Mordekaiser, Lux, Xerath, Karma
    • Round out comp with
      • Ashe (for Snipers) if Jhin is your primary carry.
      • Ekko (for Infiltrators) if Shaco is your primary carry.
      • Lulu (for Mystics).
      • Ahri and Syndra (for Sorcerers). If you are in Superdense or get a Force of Nature, add Vel’Koz and Annie for a full Dark Star/Sorcerer comp.
      • If you get Dark Star’s Heart, put it on Lulu (she should be in your comp unless you’re going full Sorcerers as well).
    • Works well in
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you can get a Jhin with a good item like BF Sword off Carousel)
      • Neekoverse (to get Jhin and Shaco to 2-stars quickly, or get Shaco to 3-stars).
  • Star Guardian/Sorcerers: Syndra (*), Ahri (*), Xerath, Zoe, Annie, Lux
    • Round out comp with
      • Mordekaiser (for Dark Star), swap Zoe with Poppy for Vanguard, and add any other Sorcerer.
      • Kha’Zix and Cho’Gath (for Void) if you have Vel’Koz fed.
      • Lulu and Soraka (for Mystics) swapping Zoe for any other Sorcerer.
      • If you get Star Guardian’s Charm, put it on Lulu, Mordekaiser, or Vel’Koz.
    • Works well in
      • Neekoverse (to get Syndra and Ahri to 3-stars).
      • Superdense Galaxy (Need more slots for this comp than most others).
      • Medium Legends-verse (So you have more health to play with as you level up and acquire Syndras and Ahris).

Concluding notes

While there’s not much more these aggregations can tell us with certainty with regards to comps or items, here is what our data can tell you about what to look for within your next Teamfight Tactics game.

  • Slow rolling 2 and 3-cost units is still a perfectly fine and viable strategy in comps like Dark Stars (Shaco), Protectors (Xin Zhao and Rakan), Sorcs (Syndra and Ahri), and Cybernetics (Lucian). However, the emphasis should still primarily be to level efficiently and get the 4 and 5-cost units as early as possible.
  • The two new galaxies introduced in Patch 10.8 don’t really affect which comps you should go as much as those that we got in the previous patch. For Superdense, make sure you’re leveling to five ASAP (right after the second Carousel) and for Trade Sector just make sure you always take advantage of the re-roll.
  • I would expect BF Swords to still be one of the best items based on which champions were rated highly in this TFT tier list. Needlessly Large Rods and Tears will also still likely be high-priority, while Recurve Bows, Giant’s Belts, and Negatron Cloaks are likely the lowest priority.
