Here are the 5 best supports on Patch 10.8 for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends solo queue ranked ladder!

The support player is the foundation of their team. They are the engage tool. They maintain vision. And they sacrifice themselves when times are tough. If you want to become a member of the most selfless role in League of Legends, why not try out one of the 5 best supports on Patch 10.8:

5) Nautilus

49.74% Win Rate | 12.0% Pick Rate | 28.3% Ban Rate

The crowd control King, Nautilus, reaffirms himself as one of the most highly-prized support champions of the current meta and lands at number five in our top five list despite having a sub-50% win rate.

From minute one, Nautilus is a menace on Summoner’s Rift, providing endless crowd control and setting up ganks and fights with ease. A long-range Q – Dredge Line, followed by a proc of P – Staggering Blow, followed by a cast of R – Depth Charge is a total CC duration of up to 5.5 seconds (depending on level).

Add this to the 30-50% slow on E – Riptide and it’s clear that if Naut catches a champion, they are not escaping.

4) Nami

53.16% Win Rate | 8.0% Pick Rate | 0.7% Ban Rate

She may not be the only squishy support in the top five anymore but Nami remains the only enchanter to break the meta and become a highly prioritized support champion on Patch 10.8.

With scaling carries receiving multiple buffs on Patch 10.8, perhaps now is the time to draft an enchanter and 2v5 solo queue games? It works for Lulu and Kog’Maw, so why can’t it work for Nami?

During the laning phase, keep your ADC topped up on health with W – Ebb and Flow and look for opportunities to start trades with Q – Bubble. As the game goes on, peel for your carry with R – Tidal Wave while increasing their damage and utility with E – Tidecaller’s Blessing.

The difference between Nami and other supports on this list is her vulnerability, so be sure to play defensively and don’t get caught easily throughout the game, always staying behind your team and providing utility.

3) Brand

52.40% Win Rate | 5.8% Pick Rate | 8.3% Ban Rate

Brand is a new entry to the 5 best supports list as he’s sky-rocketed to a 52.40% win rate on Patch 10.8 without receiving a single buff. Some supports like to provide crowd control, others like to heal and shield their carries, but Brand prefers to do the damage from the support role.

Realistically you can miss 50% of your abilities and still be useful as Brand, all you need to know is how to stun enemies during the laning phase to establish an early lead and snowball.

To stun the enemy carry, simply land either W – Pillar of Flame or E – Conflagration to apply P – Blaze. From there, throw out a Q – Sear to stun the target for 1.5 seconds to close the gap and quickly burst them down for a free kill.

This is basically the only important skill Brand players need to learn, the rest will come over time. But, if you’re bored of laning with useless carries and want to take matters into your own hands, Brand is the support champion for you!

2) Leona

50.72% Win Rate | 12.2% Pick Rate | 27.3% Ban Rate

Earlier we talked about Nautilus’ endless CC train and how long he can lock down a champion for. Leona is exactly the same, but a little bit more annoying.

If you want to quickly climb the solo queue ladder, queue up with an aggressive ADC partner, and pick Leona. At every opportunity dive in with E – Zenith Blade and stun your opponent with Q – Shield of Daybreak to quickly win the trade.

Limit the amount of incoming damage by activating W – Eclipse early on. Repeat this until you pick up the kill and begin your snowball.

1) Blitzcrank

51.48% Win Rate | 10.8% Pick Rate | 31.2% Ban Rate

The key to becoming an expert Blitzcrank player is knowing when/where to roam and how to utilize pockets of vision to Q – Rocket Grab enemies when they least expect it.

Obviously, you can win by staying in lane and throwing out endless hooks hoping one lands, but the best way to create an early gold lead and set up your team for success is to grab early Boots of Mobility and roam around the map looking for gank opportunities.

Where Blitz players win and lose games is during the 15-25 minute mark when the best Blitzcranks will be hovering around fog of war and manipulating vision to grab an unsuspecting opponent before E – Power Fisting them and setting up kills for the team.

Knowing when to look for kills and where to reduce enemy vision for Rocket Grabs is the most important step when attempting to master the Rolling Golem.
