1. Leona

Consistently one of, if not the, best engage supports in League of Legends, Leona is an easy pick for our support roster of best champions to main. Her play pattern is simple to grasp and execute, she has the capacity to dominate lanes, and she can provide peel for the less mobile ADCs.

On top of that, there are plenty of ways to maximize her kit as you climb the ranks to get more use out of her kit. From her auto-attack reset on her Q, positioning with your E, and ult usage, Leona remains a strong pick even in Platinum and above.

2. Blitzcrank

Once again, we have one of the low elo stompers down here in the best champions to main list. Blitzcrank preys on the poor positioning of players in the lower elos as one well-placed hook means certain death to his enemy.

That said, Blitz isn’t just a solid pick for players in the lower elos. He currently has the second-highest pick rate among supports in Platinum and above, with a win rate over 50%. With that level of effectiveness even at higher levels of play, Blitz is a great support to main.

3. Nami

The one and only enchanter support, Nami is easily the strongest and most diverse support on this list because of how she can be played. You can use her Ebb and Flow for sustain or harass, her Tidal Wave for engage or disengage, and her Aqua Prison is a fantastic pick tool.

That said, Nami is probably one of the most difficult support champions on this list. Almost all her key abilities are skillshots and it is easy to mess up her combos. Even still, she’s a strong and flexible enough champion that she’s worth learning.

4. Nautilus

He was the best engage support before numerous nerfs dropped Nautilus down to the depths, but he’s still a fantastic frontliner. With more CC baked into his kit than you might know what to do with, Nautilus gives both the engage threat of Leona with the hook of Blitzcrank, and bonus tankiness to go along with it!

5. Senna

This is a curious pick, no doubt, and Senna is probably one of the harder champions to understand and pilot from the support position. However, when it comes to support champions that you can use to carry, Senna is up there among the best.

Not only does she build damage (like most low elo supports already do) she provides crazy utility with her ult and root. Also, she can scale up without taking any CS from your ADC!
