Best compositions

In accordance with our rankings of the best champions, Classes and Origins, we now give you our best comps in Patch 10.9 based on the rankings from our TFT tier list. This will denote the units you should buy in each comp, as well as the best supplemental synergies to pair those comps with. We will also include any variations, advantages, or disadvantages to be aware of in specific Galaxies, if applicable.

We will put an asterisk next to the units that should be the main focus of these comps, to get to 2 or 3-stars and put items on. Note that when we recommend specific units of a Class/Origin but omit others for your pairings, we are saying these are the options we would consider to be above average or worthwhile additions to your comp.

  • Blasters/Brawlers: Miss Fortune (*), Jinx (*), Lucian, Ezreal, Malphite, Vi, Blitzcrank, Cho’Gath
    • Works well in
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get Jinx/Cho’Gath on the first Carousel with a good item).
      • Treasure Trove (more money early to level quickly and get to carries).
      • Medium Legends (more time to get to higher levels and carries).
  • 6 Cybernetic: Ekko, Lucian (*), Vi, Irelia (*), Leona, Fiora
    • Round out the comp with
      • Miss Fortune for Blasters along with Kayle for Valkyries and Blademasters (this should be your go-to full comp and is ideal if you have a strong Irelia).
      • Ezreal (Chrono/Blaster) and Thresh (Chrono and Mana-Reaver) if you have a strong Lucian and/or are slow rolling for 3-star Lucian, Fiora, Leona, and/or Vi.
    • Works well in
      • Neekoverse (to either 3-star Lucian or get additional Irelias, Kayles, Miss Fortunes).
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get an Irelia with an item you can build off of, ideally a BF sword).
      • Treasure Trove (more money early to level quickly and get to carries OR to get items for your carries).
      • Medium Legends (more time to get to higher levels and carries).
  • Celestial/Blademasters: Lulu, Rakan, Ashe, Xayah, Irelia (*), Kayle (*)
    • Round out comp with
      • Two remaining Celestials (Xin Zhao and Kassadin) for full Celestials
      • Shen, Master Yi, Yasuo for full Blademasters
      • Soraka for Mystics
    • Works well in
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get Kyle/Irelia on the first Carousel with a good item).
      • Treasure Trove (more money early to level quickly and get to carries).
      • Medium Legends (more time to get to higher levels and carries).
      • Superdense (with 10 units at max levels you can go 6 Blademasters/4 Celestials).
  • Dark Star: Jhin (*), Shaco (*), Mordekaiser, Lux, Xerath, Karma
    • Round out comp with
      • Ashe (for Snipers) if Jhin is your primary carry.
      • Ekko, Fizz, Kai’Sa (for Infiltrators) if Shaco is your primary carry.
      • Lulu (for Mystics).
      • If you get Dark Star’s Heart, put it on Lulu or Ekko if you’re going Infiltrators.
    • Works well in
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you can get a Jhin with a good item like BF Sword off Carousel).
      • Neekoverse (to get Jhin and Shaco to 2-stars quickly, or get Shaco to 3-stars).
      • Treasure Trove (more money early to level quickly and get to carries).
  • Mech-Pilot/Infiltrator: Fizz (*), Rumble, Annie, Ekko (*), Shaco, Kai’Sa
    • Round out comp with
      • Lulu and Soraka (for Mystics).
      • If you get Infiltrator’s Talons, put it on someone like Irelia, and add Kha’zix.
    • Works well in
      • Neekoverse (to get Fizz/Ekko to 3-stars).
      • Medium Legends (more time to get to higher levels and carries).
      • Treasure Trove (more gold to level and to get better items for your Super Mech).
      • Lilac Nebula-verse (if you get Fizz with good items).

Concluding notes

While there’s not much more these aggregations can tell us with certainty with regards to comps or items, here is what our data can tell you about what to look for within your next Teamfight Tactics game.

  • Slow rolling is much worse in Patch 10.9 than it has been in past. The big slow roll carries like Xin, Lucian, and Shaco are all in worse states, which puts the higher-cost carries at a premium.
  • Treasure Trove is definitely an impactful Galaxy on our TFT tier list. However, the Star Cluster is basically absent from the list. This is likely because of that first point: getting those 1, 2, and 3 cost units to 3-stars just isn’t as useful as it was in previous patches.
  • I would expect Recurve Bows or Tears to be the best items based on which champions were rated highly in this TFT tier list. Needlessly Large Rods, Chain Vests, and BF Swords will also still likely be high-priority, while Recurve Bows, Giant’s Belts, and Negatron Cloaks are likely the lowest priority.
