League of Legends: URF Release Date and Patch 10.10 Balance Changes
URF is returning to League of Legends on Patch 10.10 and with it comes a long list of balance changes built to create a more enjoyable environment in everyone’s favorite game mode.
After the release of the Patch 10.10 notes, it has been revealed that Ultra Rapid Fire (URF) will be returning to League of Legends live servers over the next few days. The release date has been confirmed and the balance changes have been set, now it’s time to be patient and prepare yourself for the return of the most popular game mode in League of Legends history.
Ultra Rapid Fire is a 5v5 League of Legends game mode played on Summoner’s Rift. In URF, all 10 players start the game with the Awesome Buff of Awesomely Awesome Buffing, which includes these stat boosts:
- Mana and energy consumption is reduced by 100%.
- 80% cooldown reduction on abilities, activated items, and summoner spells.
- 25% tenacity.
- +60 movement speed.
- Sources of bonus attack speed are doubled on ranged champions, 1.5x on melee champions.
- Critical strikes deal 25% additional damage.
- Health costs are reduced by 50%.
- 100% bonus damage to infernal dragons.
The game mode also includes a champion cannon which can be used to fire champions over half-way across the map for faster returns to the lane and quicker team fights. Also, Homeguards are enabled from the start of the match, minions grant gold whether they’re killed or missed, and you can surrender at 8 minutes.
URF’s popularity cannot be understated. In fact, in 2017 it was revealed that URF was so popular that players would stop playing regular League of Legends whenever the game mode was enabled, so ARURF was created to minimize that effect.
However, after a successful experiment with Pick URF in 2019, it has been decided that the game mode can return for a second run in 2020 to reduce the player base’s lockdown blues!
Release Date
As stated by the Patch 10.10 notes, Ultra Rapid Fire is set to be added to the live League of Legends servers on Thursday, May 14.
This is just one day after the implementation of Patch 10.10 and it has not yet been revealed what time of day the game mode will be added, so keep your eyes peeled!
Balance Changes
The announcement of URF’s return was coupled with a very long list of balance changes in order to create a healthier environment for URF players over the next few weeks.
These changes are an attempt to improve the game state from the last edition of Ultra Rapid Fire, reducing the impact of some of the strongest URF champions, while also helping out some of the weaker ones. Here’s the full, extensive list from the official Patch 10.10 notes:
