Here are the 5 best top laners on Patch 10.9 for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends solo queue ranked ladder!

It is Bruiser City in the top lane on Patch 10.10 with tanks and mages taking a back seat, making way for the physical damage dealing melee carries of League of Legends. 4 of the 5 best top laners in the current meta are bruisers as solo queue players look to snowball games out of their opponents’ control early on by finding kills in the laning phase.

There are three main avenues for success when it comes to playing top lane: Split pushing, being a reliable tank, or snowballing kills. This list contains all three options, so grab one of the champions, and head into solo queue now!

5) Malphite

51.49% Win Rate | 5.6% Pick Rate | 3.8% Ban Rate

Malphite represents the tank avenue with one key ability that separates him from other tank choices. Unstoppable Force can decide the result of any League of Legends game if used correctly making Malphite one of the most impactful top laners in the current meta.

However, the reason Malphite is so strong on Patch 10.10 isn’t just because of his ultimate, but because he’s an unkillable tank that can make enemy carries useless if built correctly.

With the majority of solo queue teams drafting a single magic damage dealer, Malphite can simply grab Ninja Tabi, Sunfire Cape, Iceborn Gauntlet, and Thornmail to become indestructible. The Shard of the Monolith can easily win games by ulting the AP carry at the start of every team fight and soaking up a ton of enemy physical damage

4) Jax

50.78% Win Rate | 8.5% Pick Rate | 8.5% Ban Rate

Jax goes down the split push avenue as he becomes his own unstoppable force upon reaching the late game. Despite his lack of a real weapon, the Grandmaster At Arms can punish even the most fed of opponents once he’s reached Level 16 and has his hands on a Trinity Force, Sterak’s Gage, Guardian Angel, and Blade of the Ruined King.

Consistently finding wins with Jax relies on your patience and your team’s map awareness. If the enemy team is grouped up in the mid lane, go to a side lane and push, forcing them to either retreat or push for an ill-advised skirmish.

If they suddenly disappear into the fog of war, Leap Strike away and await your next opportunity to push down enemy towers and close out the game.

3) Wukong

52.68% Win Rate | 4.1% Pick Rate | 12.6% Ban Rate

Wukong is the bruiser and a strong one at that ever since his Patch 10.6 min-rework. The Monkey King has dominated the top lane meta over the last few weeks and looks set to continue for some time.

In lane, Wukong is a constant threat with Warrior Trickster to close the gap and Crushing Blow dealing incredible early damage. During the late game, the top laner controls team fights with two charges of Cyclone knocking up enemy carries and obliterating their HP bars.

2) Fiora

51.01% Win Rate | 8.2% Pick Rate | 43.4% Ban Rate

Whether Fiora or Jax is the stronger split pusher remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain, Fiora takes less time to ramp up and is a stronger option in solo queue right now.

The Grand Duelist has incredible outplay potential at all stages of the game and requires a wealth of experience if she is to be played effectively. Duelist’s Dance is one of the most unique and hardest to master Passives in League of Legends, while Riposte has the potential to turn the tide of any fight.

If you’re looking to add Fiora to your champion pool, it’s important to be patient and wait for opportunities to engage your opponent. If you leave the laning phase without a kill its no big deal, but if you leave the laning phase with a gold deficit you may be in for a rough game.

1) Darius

50.86% Win Rate | 9.3% Pick Rate | 43.4% Ban Rate

For the tenth consecutive patch, Darius remains an S tier top laner and has full control of any matchup in League of Legends right now.

The Hand of Noxus has incredible base damage, an Apprehend and Crippling Strike combo that is lethal more often than not, and the strongest snowball in the game. If you’re a top lane main and have yet to add Darius to your champion pool, you’re doing something wrong!
