Here are the 5 best mid laners on Patch 10.10 for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends ranked solo queue ladder!

Control mages, tanks, bruisers, they all make up the long list of viable mid lane champions in the current meta. Despite that, only assassins can be found on our list of the 5 best mid laners on Patch 10.10:

5) Talon

52.97% Win Rate | 5.5% Pick Rate | 6.8% Ban Rate

AD mid laners are a dying breed. Talon is the last remnant of League of Legends seasons past as the likes of Irelia, Pantheon, and Zed have all been tossed to the wayside.

The Blade’s Shadow boasts an impressive 52.97% win rate on the current patch as his base damage is great enough to pick up solo kills which he can then spread around the map thanks to his excellent mobility.

To get the most out of Talon, knowing when/where to roam is key. Use your jungler’s proximity to clear out your wave safely, then look to either side lane. If the enemy bot lane is pushed too far up and your jungler is free to follow up, use Assassin’s Path to traverse the south river quickly and flank your opponents for an easy double kill.

4) Fizz

51.44% Win Rate | 6.3% Pick Rate | 12.6% Ban Rate

Fizz is, was, and always will be an ADC’s biggest nightmare. The speed at which he can close a gap with Playful Trickster, the crippling slow of Chum the Waters, and the huge burst damage from his terrifying spell rotation.

It’s clear that this is still the case as the Tidal Trickster sits at a 51.44% win rate on Patch 10.10 and is clearly dominating the mid lane.

The difference between decent Fizz players and master Fizz players is how they operate in team fights. While a decent Fizz player might be able to trade 1 for 1 with an enemy marksman, a master Fizz player will only dive onto the enemy backline if they have an escape route or Zhonya’s Hourglass available to maintain a numbers advantage.

3) Diana

51.34% Win Rate | 7.3% Pick Rate | 14.9% Ban Rate

Diana’s recent rework remains one of the most effective in League of Legends history. By merely switching two abilities around, the balance team have created a threatening mid laner with a high skill ceiling and plenty of skill expression.

One thing that many beginner Diana players struggle with is the use of her ultimate, Moonfall. Rather than casting it the moment you’re in range of an opponent, just threaten to cast it and wait until they use an escape tool or summoner spell.

If they do that, you can fight them again later in the game and pick up a free kill.

2) Katarina

52.30% Win Rate | 6.5% Pick Rate | 10.6% Ban Rate

Everyone has seen the montage clips of Katarina jumping into a team fight and winning 1v5 with Death Lotus. They’re supposed to be rare highlights that happen 1 in every 100 games, they’re not anymore.

As a result of the ease at which ADCs are killed in the early game, a growing ability to snowball games out of control, and a little good fortune, Katarina has rapidly risen from obscurity to superiority, as illustrated by the Sinister Blade’s huge 52.30% win rate on Patch 10.10.

Mastering Katarina’s Level 3 power spike is the perfect starting point for adding the mid laner to your champion pool.

Once you’ve gained access to all of your non-ultimate abilities, throw out a Bouncing Blade and instantly Shunpo to it if the enemy mid laner is in the area of effect. Cast Preparation for an escape route after the trade, but otherwise just auto attack your opponent down and use Ignite if they fall low enough.

Nine times out of ten, this should be enough to net a kill or blown summoner spell!

1) Kassadin

50.86% Win Rate | 7.7% Pick Rate | 36.5% Ban Rate

When AP mid laners are strong, Kassadin is strong, it’s as simple as that.

The Void Walker’s Passive – Void Stone is perfect for navigating through the early game unscathed as he takes 15% reduced magic damage from all sources. So, when mages and AP assassins make up the majority of the current mid lane champion pool, Kassadin thrives.

Combine this with Kassadin’s inherent ability to dominate any game that lasts more than 30 minutes with Riftwalk and you can see why he’s risen to the number one spot among mid laners with a strong 50.86% win rate and massive 36.5% ban rate.
