This is a Legends of Runeterra guide explaining the mana costs, power, health, spells, and level up conditions of all five Demacia champions.

Legends of Runeterra is Riot Games’ digital card game that shares the same universe as League of Legends, which means you’ll see some familiar faces from the seven regions of Runeterra during your LoR journey. This is a breakdown of the basics of the five Demacia champions and how they function in game.

Demacia is the utopia of Runeterra, a kingdom that values justice, honor, and duty above all else. With a rich military background and vast lands in which to rule, the Great City of Demacia has vowed to protect the region and surrounding areas from the threat of Noxus. However, since the death of King Jarvan III, the capital has come under scrutiny as many Demacians have yet to approve Jarvan IV’s succession to the throne.

In Legends of Runeterra, Demacian units, spells, and champions are some of the most straightforward and easy to understand cards in the game. Utilizing mechanics like Challenger, Regeneration, and Barrier, it would be wise to create a Demacia deck when starting out in Legends of Runeterra to get a grasp of the basics.

These are the five Demacia champions available in Legends of Runeterra:

Fiora

Fiora
Fiora has the potential to be one of the most lethal cards in Legends of Runeterra, but she starts as a basic 3|3 unit, costing 3 mana. She also possesses Challenger, allowing her to choose her blocking opponent whenever she’s played in the attacking phase. This is perfect for taking out annoying enemy units or keeping Fiora alive to carry out her Level Up condition.

Level Up
The Grand Duelist reaches Level 2 after killing 2 enemy units. This can be quite difficult due to the fact that she only has 3 health, but if you’re careful when choosing her opponents, and use Barriers and heals, when available, you should be able to reach Level 2 safely.

After leveling up, Fiora only has to kill 2 more enemy units to win the entire game, a hugely overpowered win condition if played in the right scenario.

Fiora’s Riposte
Fiora’s champion spell, Riposte, synergizes perfectly with her card. Not only does it give an ally Barrier, allowing Fiora (or another allied unit) to survive any attack/block, but it also gives them +3|+0, which means Fiora’s power increases to 7, enough to take down almost any foe.

Garen

Garen
In terms of starter champions, Garen is one of the strongest in Legends of Runeterra. Getting him on the board early is key as he can soak up to 5 damage up every round with Regeneration. On top of that, he also has 5 power which allows him to take out some of the strongest early game units with ease.

Level Up
Leveling him up is pretty simple as well, requiring him to strike enemies twice in order to gain a +1|+1 boost. The Might of Demacia also gains Rally, allowing his team to attack in every round after reaching Level 2.

Garen’s Judgment
Garen’s champion spell is Judgment, a fast spell that allows you to pick a battling ally to strike all enemies on the board, potentially opening up the opportunity to kill troublesome units or sneak in some valuable Nexus damage.

Lucian

Lucian
The lowest cost Demacia champion is Lucian at 2 mana cost. For this, you receive a 3|2 unit with Quick Attack, which is very good value for the mana. In the early levels, Lucian can be deadly as he wipes the board of low-health units without receiving any return damage.

Level Up
To level up, keep Lucian alive long enough for him to witness 4 allies dying or 1 Senna, Sentinel Of Light, at which point he’ll get a +1|+1 boost and Double Attack, meaning he has a Quick Attack and a normal attack in the attacking phase.

Level 2 Lucian also rallies his team when he sees an ally die, granting an attack token, greatly increasing your team’s potential damage in a round.

Lucian’s Relentless Pursuit
Lucian’s champion spell is Relentless Pursuit which rallies your team when cast.

Senna, Sentinel Of Light
Senna’s card is not connected to Lucian’s unless either of them dies at which point one of them will get a stat boost. In Senna’s case, she’ll receive a +1|+1 bonus and Double Attack if she sees Lucian die while in play. A 5 power unit with Double Attack could be a route to victory, so it may be wise to use this as a win condition with a Demacia deck.

Lux

Lux
At 6 mana, Lux is the most expensive Demacia champion in Legends of Runeterra. When first played, she’ll have a Barrier, allowing her to block any incoming damage.

Level Up
To gain +1|+1 stats and a second Barrier, you’ll have to cast 6+ mana worth of spells, which will also create a Final Spark in your hand. This repeats for the rest of the game while Lux is alive, so be sure to have plenty of spells in your deck.

Lux’s Prismatic Barrier
Prismatic Barrier is Lux’s champion spell and it simply gives an ally Barrier for one round which could be key in keeping strong units alive or preventing some Overwhelm damage to your Nexus.

Final Spark
Casting 6+ mana worth of spells creates a Final Spark, a spell that deals 4 damage to an enemy unit with Overwhelm (any excess damage hits the enemy Nexus). This card is fleeting and costs 0 mana, so it must be used before the round ends.

Quinn

Quinn
Quinn is the latest addition to the group of Demacia champions, costing 5 mana with 3|4 stats. When she’s summoned, she summons a Valor to her side. She can also attack twice after the first time you use only Scout units to attack, opening up some opportunities to catch your opponent off guard.

Level Up
To level up, simply attack 4 times with Quinn in play and she’ll receive a +1|+1 boost and the ability to summon Valor when attacking, who will then Challenge the strongest enemy on the board. Use this to your advantage, distracting the strongest enemy, while your main units do the damage.

Quinn’s Blinding Assault
Quinn’s champion spell allows her to summon another Valor to the board, overwhelming your opponent with endless birds.

Valor
Valor is a 2 mana unit with 2 power and 1 health, great for populating the board and destroying low health units. Valor also has Challenger, allowing the bird to distract targets in order for more powerful units to deal important damage on the board.
