Here are five removed items that should come back to League of Legends.

5. Spear of Shojin

Stats: 60 AD, 250 health, 20% CDR

Build path: BF Sword + Kindlegem + Long Sword

Total cost: 3400g

What it did: After casting your ultimate, your next basic attack grants 50% bonus attack speed, and basic attacks refund 20% of your remaining basic abilities cooldowns on-attack for the next 6 seconds. Abilities that trigger on-hit effects refund the cooldown on-hit.

Why it should come back: This item was great for a lot of fighters who were very ult-reliant in their fighting patterns. Champions like Renekton, Jax, and Riven who hit their ultimate to start a fight thrived with the reduced cooldowns of their basic abilities and getting some extra attack speed.

What would have to change: I would try to keep the same theme of having Shojin be an item that’s great on fighters with ultimates that last throughout a fight, but I would tweak the benefit it gives. Instead of reducing the cooldown of your basic abilities each time you attack an enemy, I would make the item grant increased spell damage during the duration (maybe 50% increased spell damage).

I would also remove the Kindlegem from the build path so the item does not give CDR itself (I’d replace it with a Giant’s Belt or Crystalline Bracer). This would make it so that the users are still gated by their cooldowns and would need to invest in CDR in other areas of their build (Trinity Force, Black Cleaver) before Shojin became effective. This would also give those champions another way to scale into the late game because they’d have more chances to deal that increased spell damage when they hit max CDR.
