Our LCS Summer 2020 Week 4 player power ranking ranks the supports and we hand out our weekly awards.

Support

1. Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme (Cloud9)
2. Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam (Evil Geniuses)
3. Lee “Ignar” Dong-geun (FlyQuest)

After a rocky start to the split, Ignar appears to have re-discovered the play that made him a dark horse MVP candidate in my mind last split. His Senna support game against EG, which helped secure them a needed win, was quite impressive as he had over an 86% kill participation. His Rakan game against TL was equally impressive, going 1/1/14 with some massively impressive engages, despite the team’s loss.

4. Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in (Team Liquid)
5. Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent (Immortals)
6. Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun (Golden Guardians)
7. Vincent “Biofrost” Wang (TSM)
8. Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere (100 Thieves)

In his LCS debut, Poome was quite underwhelming. He made a lot of the typical mistakes that you’d expect from a rookie, high deaths (6 in the two games) due to mispositioning, but the biggest thing that stood out to me was that his mechanics weren’t particularly impressive. On Thresh, a pick that just about every support can pilot at a high level, Poome was making a lot of mistakes and ended the game 0/4/3.

That said, it’s not all doom and gloom for Poome (rhymes are fun). He has some solid fundamentals including a strong understanding of warding and vision control. It’s only a two-game sample size, but his 2.77 vision score per minute is above average for his position and ranks ahead of experienced supports like Biofrost, Zeyzal, and Vulcan!

9. William “Stunt” Chen (100 Thieves)
10. Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black (Dignitas)
11. Andy “Smoothie” Ta (CLG)
12. Austin “Gate” Yu (Immortals)
