Why do these champions dominate pro play but suck in solo queue?

7. Zoe

Why she’s good in pro play: She’s the ultimate poke champion with the most insane skill ceiling of any champion in League of Legends. Not only does she have basically a nuke on her Q ability, allowing her to take any squishy champion from 100 to 0 in the blink of an eye, she also has the most annoying long-range crowd control baked into her Sleepy Trouble Bubble.

Why she sucks in solo queue: Her high skill ceiling also means that she has a massively high barrier of entry. How many players in Gold or Platinum can figure out how to use her Spell Thief ability or properly use Portal Jump to dodge crowd control?

8. Azir

Why he’s good in pro play: Insane long-range damage and safety using his soldiers, Azir also scales like a monster despite being not terrible in the early game. Of course, the defining characteristic is his Shurima Shuffle, which can scoop immobile enemy carries into the waiting arms of his teammates and single-handedly swing a teamfight.

Why he sucks in solo queue: Like Zoe, Azir has an incredibly high barrier of entry thanks to his unintuitive playstyle (using the Sand Soldiers to attack and also move). It’s very easy to screw up on Azir and even though he scales like a monster, that requires you to get there without being down five kills.
