League of Legends Patch 10.21 notes: Aphelios and Samira changes

The patch notes for League of Legends Patch 10.21 have been revealed

League of Legends will receive its 21st update of Season 10 on Wednesday, 14 October 2020. Patch 10.21 will include balance changes for eleven champions and one rune including the likes of Aphelios, Lee Sin, and Samira. The official patch notes also list balance changes for ARAM and URF, as well as revealing nine new skins in the Harrowing and Odyssey skin lines.

As per routine, Riot Scruffy (lead gameplay designer for League of Legends) posted the fortnightly patch preview for Patch 10.21 last week to prepare the community for the upcoming balance changes. Since then, only minor updates have been made to the patch notes, including small changes for Karma, Nidalee, and Pantheon.

The largest change of Patch 10.21 is Aphelios’ long list of buffs. The Weapon of the Faithful has seen his passive lethality option increased and his ultimate ability, Moonlight Vigil, improved for all five weapons. This is no doubt an attempt by the balance team to remedy Aphelios’ awful 46.66% solo queue win rate before the ranked season ends in November.

In terms of skins, there is a bunch to look forward to on Patch 10.21. With Halloween on the horizon, Riot Games have added three new Harrowing skins to League of Legends, Pumpkin Prince Amumu, Bewitching Elise, and Little Devil Fizz. Joining them are five new additions to the Odyssey skin line as well as Hextech Kassadin.

Patch 10.21 is set to be added to League of Legends live servers on the morning of Wednesday, 14 October 2020. Check out the Riot Games service status page for maintenance updates.

Bugfixes / Quality of Life Changes

  • Fixed an issue where the in-game settings menu was not loading if a game had not been played since the previous patch
  • Debug text will no longer appear during promotion ceremonies
  • Fixed an issue where gift notifications would appear even after being acknowledged or dismissed
  • League taskbar icon should now light up when notifications/messages are pending
  • Restoring Default Hotkeys out of game no longer unbinds “Area Is Warded Ping” in the Options Menu

Game

  • Changed how emotes are sized to make them more consistent across various resolutions and have fixed positions relative to the health bar
  • Added an option in the in-game settings to change the size of emotes to “Normal” or “Small”, so players can choose how they appear
  • Added an “incoming health” UX addition to health bars, so players can see how much health they will receive from delayed health recovery sources like Redemption’s active, ARAM healing packs, and Vladimir’s R – Hemoplague
  • Fixed an issue where Mac players would see unusual fullscreen brightness when certain champions would appear on screen
  • Fixed a bug where Amumu would not apply Passive – Cursed Touch through AoE damage abilities
  • Corrected Nami’s W – Ebb and Flow’s AP ratio in the tooltip from 1.5 AP to 0.5 AP
  • PsyOps Sona now correctly plays her transformation animation even when moving while leveling up R – Crescendo
  • Added a yellow ring under targets affected by Zed’s Passive – Contempt for the Weak to match similar passive indicators on Jarvan, Ekko, and Shaco.
