Who were the Best Laners in the LCS in the 2020 Season?
By Josh Tyler
We break down which LCS players were the best laners in 2020 to help inform how they might do in 2021.
Bot Lane
Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen
To the surprise of just about no one, Zven was atop the pack for best laners among the AD Carry crop in the LCS last year, with a +853 AGXD. Even though his performance dipped towards the end of the season, the man was still an absolute monster in terms of his laning performance.
In particular, Zven was incredible when it came to playing one of the most prominent utility carries, Senna. He averaged over +1000 AGXD on Senna in 2020 as one of the most dominant ADC players.
Edward “Tactical” Ra
If his impressive damage output didn’t grab your attention, maybe Tactical’s +270 AGXD will. The kid was one of the best laners in the LCS among ADCs last year, despite the fact that he was only put into favorable matchups 52.7% of the time.
Like Zven, Tactical was great on the utility ADCs like Senna (+552 AGXD) and Ashe (+199 AGXD). Where he shone brightest, though, was on the hyper carries like Ezreal (+541 AGXD) and Jhin (+267 AGXD). The only real criticism you can have of Tactical is that he did struggle to win some bully lanes like Caitlyn and Kalista, where he had small negative gold plus experience differentials compared to average.
Ian Victor “FBI” Huang
News flash, but I’m here to tell you all again that FBI is really good. He ranked third among ADCs in average AGXD last year (+244). And that was in spite of him being placed more often than not into a harder lane (33.7% of the time he was in a winning lane).
In particular, you can see how good he was by how often he was able to win lane outright on Ezreal. His raw gold plus experience on Ezreal was over 1,000 in three out of five games, including against tough matchups like Aphelios and Varus.
