LCS 2021: Ranking All the Starting LCS Top Laners
By Josh Tyler
6. Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong (Evil Geniuses)
Impact is known as a steadying force in the top lane and one of the best weak-side tops in the LCS. The data does back up this claim (even though I contend Solo is actually the best weak-side top laner), but it also reveals some of the massive holes in Impact’s game that can be exposed in 2021.
On the positives, though, Impact has proven to be an above-average-to-good laner in his professional career, even accounting for the lane matchups he’s been thrown into. Similarly, his EDD is better than average (0.7), meaning he’s outperforming the average player in terms of damage. But it’s only a slight out-performance.
The big problems come when looking at Impact’s income and KDA numbers. Yes, as a weak-side top laner, you would expect Impact to have a low GPM. But his 366 GPM is lower than every other starting top laner in 2020 other than Revenge.
His aKDA of 1.97 is, too, below average, largely due to him dying slightly more often than average (2.6 deaths per game). Most of his contributions came in the form of assists, rather than kills (2.2 kills per game versus 5.1 assists per game). That assist-to-kill ratio is third-worst among all top laners, beating out only Huni and Revenge.
