9. Eugene “Pobelter” Park (CLG)

After being brought onto CLG to replace the disappointing Crown last spring, Pobelter put on a decent showing as their mid laner. After CLG’s disaster of a Summer Split, the team rebuilt at almost every position, but elected to keep the Notorious P.O.B.

In my opinion, that was a mistake.

Pobelter averaged the most deaths per game (3.4) of any mid laner last year, which also resulted in him having the lowest adjusted KDA of all mids (1.5). And, if you’re wondering if Pobelter’s high death count was simply due to CLG being a bad team, he also had the highest death share (23.9%) of all mids as well.

His laning was among the worst in the LCS in 2020 as well, as he posted a -168.7 MAGXD @ 15. This also resulted in him having one of the lower gold counts, at 398 GPM.

However, the biggest mark against Pobelter is his damage output. With a -23.7 EDD, Pobelter did the least damage relative to expectations. This is in contrast to a mid laner like Damonte, who did 30 less damage per minute, but had a higher EDD because his champions tended to skew towards lower damage.

Pobelter did put up strong performances on Twisted Fate, rating as elite on that pick, but on his most-picked champion, Syndra, he posted some of the worst damage counts of all. CLG should look to narrow his champion pool a bit and keep him on champions that he’s proven to have strength in, like Azir and Orianna.
