We break down why each of the League of Legends champions in the VGU poll should, or shouldn’t, be the pick for an update.

For the third-straight year, Riot Games is offering players the chance to impact the direction of League of Legends. Yesterday, Riot revealed that, for the third-straight year, they would be opening the decision of which champion receives a full VGU up to the players.

With voting to continue through January 19 on the client, players will be able to pick one of five champions to be the next major rework for 2022 (Dr. Mundo, last year’s winner, will have his rework released later in 2021). The only question is which one to pick?

Today, we will go through each of the five champions that are up for a full rework and give pros and cons for why they should be the choice for a rework.

Shyvana

Pros: She’s been on this list for a few years, so it seems a rework is inevitable. Riot has also never been able to figure out what to do with her passive, and her kit is balanced around getting to dragon form and running over games. It’s an uninteresting play pattern and the theme of her being a form-switching dragon could be done so much better.

Cons: She’s a versatile champion with multiple build paths (AD, attack speed, and AP are all viable, though AP is the strongest right now). While the form switching could be done better, currently her dragon form is absolutely monstrous, which fits with her theme. All she really needs is some more power put into her human form to be competitively viable.
