COVID-19 puts Worlds eligibility for T1 at risk.

In an unexpected turn of events,  a member of the T1 staff has tested positive for COVID-19. This news comes as a shock to the rest of the team and fans alike. With Worlds around the corner, this news couldn’t have come at a worse time for this team.

Following this news, T1 will have to test the entire roster and staff due to contact tracing. While this may be a scary situation for the team it’s still something that can be worked around. Since they won’t play until the start of the Group Stage on Oct 11, there’s still a chance that they can participate in the tournament. With a general incubation period of two weeks for the virus, if they are found positive they’ll still have time to join the bubble after the rest of the team clears the testing protocol.

T1 comes into Worlds after taking the last spot for the LCK teams in the group stage by winning the regional championship. No one saw them making a spot for Worlds this year after the less than impressive 2021 that they’ve been having. But when it was time to shine they rose up to the competition, showing flashes of the T1 of old. It would be a shame if they were to miss the tournament because of this.

According to the release the situation will be handled internally, as expected of any franchise. But if you’ve been following T1 as a favorite for the tournament be on the lookout for more updates on the team’s health status in the future. With their eligibility status on the line let’s hope that they can get past this and direct their focus towards Worlds.
