Here’re our takeaways from the official trailer from Netflix’s Arcane

On Sept 25 the official trailer for Netflix’s Arcane was released and fans were given their first glimpse of what they can expect of the show. The nine-episode series will include some of our favorite champions with possible cameos from other familiar faces in the game. They did well not to reveal too much to the public but here’s what we pulled from the preview.

So diving into the characters, the story seems to be revolving around Vi who functions as our main protagonist. Vi is seeking out Jinx, her lost younger sister, who is in need of protection from the main antagonist Silco. On her journey, she ends up fighting various enemies and shockingly enough someone with a mechanical arm similar to the one she has in the game.

From Caitlyn’s words, providing that she’s still an officer in the show,  Jinx has done something that she can’t come back from. Caitlyn describes her as “already lost” what that means is unclear. But Jinx seems to be very familiar with Silco’s henchman, so it’s possible that Vi’s little sister has found herself on the dark side.  So it’ll likely take a lot of convincing from Vi to get her sister to come back but she’s willing to go to any length to protect her family.

As a side story that will definitely intertwine we follow Viktor and Jayce as they peak on the verge of technological discovery. However, it’s clear that whatever they’re doing isn’t widely accepted and Heimerdinger took it upon himself to inform them about it. This could potentially be the creation of Blitzcrank, a new level of technology unlike anything the world has seen before.

A big part of the story will definitely be whatever the purple substance is that Silco is using to experiment with. In the early parts of the trailer, we see him go through a grotesque change after it’s used on him. But, the same purple substance is running through the mechanical arm of the woman fighting Vi later on in the trailer. It’s also coursing through the veins of two zombie-like walkers towards the later end of the trailer. This mysterious liquid will likely be the thing that drives Silco as a villain as he attempts to corrupt the city.

We won’t have to wait much longer for our questions to be answered. Make sure to tune in on Nov 6 when the show debuts on Netflix. The first act will hopefully have you and everyone else clamoring for the next installment.
