This Fnatic split has been entirely dominated by now-franchise player in Hylissang having one of the most dominant support splits of all time. The Professor has been utterly unleashed in 2022 Spring, and with Coach Yamato giving the go-ahead call on his pocket picks like Pyke and Renata, the legendary support has been tearing up the league with his mind-blowing plays and ferociously aggressive instincts. His Pyke has been an exquisite treat in particular, since he establishes an enormous lead very early into the game with his laser-accuracy hooks, chunking opponents out and burning their flashes to set up for a three or four man dive at the hands of Razork and/or Humanoid. I talk a lot about engines and players that set up their teammates for success; Hylissang has been one of the most powerful engines in the LEC this split, and is the primary reason for Fnatic’s 13 wins.

Let’s talk a little bit about Wunder and his redemption arc. Following the worst split of his career last year, the Hall of Famer has come in for a rebound split where he displayed his unselfishness and versatility by playing weak side all season, helping create a steady balance of resources so his monstrous carries can take over in the mid to late game. While I do think his unselfishness is his biggest strength as a player, I do not think he is as good of a carry player as people keep saying he is. I hear so many people within the scene have this notion that Wunder is capable of playing both strong and weak side, and while this is technically true, his strong side play has been steadily decreasing over the years and it is nowhere near how it was back in Season 8 Spring or during the MSI run. I would not take Wunder over Alphari, Broken Blade or even Odoamne in a carry versus carry matchup these days and I think it is quite shrewd from Wunder to shift his playstyle to a neutral and weak side player to increase his relevance to the team. That being said, he is still a good top laner and I praise him for bouncing back against all the criticism he received last split.
