Misfits make it interesting in Game 3 but Rogue outclass them 3-1 with big performances out of Malrang, Larssen and Comp, as Vetheo underperforms.

Game 1: GigaChad Malrang

What seemed to be a very back and forth Game 1 ends abruptly with Shlatan’s unfortunate blast cone over his wolf camp as Rogue rip him apart and push for the end to take the first win of the series between the 1st and 3rd seed in the LEC playoffs. Hirit got off to a rough start in the early game and was pretty much useless throughout out the game barring a few Gnar ultimates to set up what looked like yet another Misfits comeback off the back of Vetheo’s Zeo and Neon’s Zeri. However, the combo of Malrang’s gorgeous engages on Jarvan IV as well as Larssen’s near-perfect Lucian play was way too much for the Misfits lineup to handle, and they eventually drop in a matchup where they are so heavily favored against.

Game 2: Top Diff

Guess I was right about Vetheo as the people’s MVP struggles against my MVP of the split as Malrang teamed up with Odoamne to deliver a top lane beatdown against Hirit, who likely shouldn’t be playing for them in the Summer Split if he isn’t going to get any better for playoffs. He has been bad all split long and his form hasn’t changed in the slightest going up against THE best top laner and jungler of 2022 Spring. Without Shaltan’s mid lane camp, Vetheo was not good enough to establish his own leads over Larssen’s patented Azir and the rabbits go down 0-2 against the first place team despite Neon’s best efforts to carry his lifeless team.

Game 3: Friendly Reminder That Larssen Is NOT Faker

Misfits roar back to life as Larssen’s best cosplay of Faker’s mid Kai’Sa ends in disaster as Rogue drop their first game of the series in an absolute slaughter at the paws of the rabbits. The leading team seemed out of sorts as they were simply getting outplayed in the solo lanes as Vetheo and even Hirit got a solo kill over their opposite number, and Shlatan’s intelligent play during early game skirmishes granted Misfits with a rare early game lead that they snowballed into victory. With more agency in his hands with the LeBlanc pick, and up against a marksmen in the mid lane, Vetheo showed off his massive carry potency and simply took over the game from the mid game, shutting the door in Rogue’s face with an exquisite solo kill on Comp to bring it back 1-2.

Game 4: I Wonder If They’ll Let Comp Get Zeri Again

Comp decided he’s had enough of Misfits with one of the most monstrous Zeri performances I have ever seen, taking over teamfights alongside Trymbi to beat Misfits down 3-1 and move onto the Winner’s Semifinals. This was the fastest game of the series as Larssen decided to stop experimenting and go back to his tried and true Orianna, solokilling Vetheo’s Akali in the process.  Despite Hirit’s best efforts to turn back his first two games, he was unable to do much against Comp’s brilliant kiting and character control.

Vetheo was a bit underwhelming during this entire series; with the whole world watching to see if he can sustain his MVP level in the playoffs, his inexperience reared its ugly head and he was largely a non-factor against Rogue’s Larssen in three out of these four games.

Rogue vs Misfits Series MVP: Malrang

I am comfortable giving Malrang the series MVP for this game for his sustained excellence all throughout the series with his “coinflip” ganking style (he’s been executing that style to near-perfection for 22 games now guys, let’s just call him the best jungler in the split and the REAL MVP). The man continues to be the most powerful engine within the LEC as he is simply too good at almost all facets of jungling; whether its ganking, covering, engaging, all while farming to a relatively decent degree. His impact with every game he plays is so apparent to anyone with a functioning set of brain cells and it is quite obnoxious that his excellence is being diminished by the whole “gimmick” narrative that is pedaled by the community.
