2022 LEC Spring Playoffs: Caps gets closer and closer to his true form as G2 sweep Misfits.
Caps is beginning to play more and more like the player that terrorized Europe for so long as G2 come together in a big way to annihilate Misfits from playoffs.
Game 1: Jankos shuts em down
Misfits looked like they might just come back from yet another early game deficit before Jankos’ engage stopped them in their tracks, allowing the samurai to take Game 1 over the rabbits. Misfits’ solo laners were struggling in the early game, getting solo killed by their counterparts at the same time. But they find the clutch teamfights they have been winning all split long and claw back the gold advantage to stretch the game out further. However, Jankos wasn’t having it, and one beautiful Jarvan engage on the clumped Misfits near dragon ended their comeback abruptly short.

Game 2: Gold clash team runs into diamond smurfs
Instead of an elimination playoff series between seed #3 and seed #4, this is starting to look more and more like a gold clash team running into diamond smurfs on an unhappy Saturday evening… No one expected Misfits to do anything in playoffs but this is starting to look outright embarrassing, with G2 outplaying them on both a team and an individual level. Vetheo looks completely helpless against Caps despite the renewed LeBlanc priority, Neon is unable to get off the ground on his powerful Jinx and the jg/supp combo of Misfits are simply a bunch of rookies who are starting to figure out what playoffs League of Legends is all about. I expect them to lose as well, but I wish the Misfits would go for crazier plays instead of simply sitting back and getting destroyed by Flakked’s Aphelios.

Game 3: Team Diff
Misfits try one last time to salvage their egos with a more decent performance across the board compared to last game, but G2 simply were operating on another level. Jungle skirmishes went the way of G2 owing to Jankos and Targamas roams to help out Caps, who puts together another MVP performance with his Cassiopeia. Mersa’s Leona was key in helping Misfits find engages when there were opportunities but the advantages did not last, as the G2 team simply outplayed the rabbits from top to bot in quite a massive display of raw skill that puts them against Fnatic for the Loser’s Bracket Finals.

G2 vs MSF Series MVP: Caps
In an earlier post, I noted Caps’ development over the split and wondered if his performance against Perkz was simply an emotionally-fueled flash in the pan or a genuine powerup through playoffs. His series against Vetheo was a big tell for the Danish mid laner’s form throughout this playoff and he has been playing brilliantly, picking up milestones such as 1500 career kills and 2000 career assists in the same series. His champion pool has slowly been resembling the Caps of old as we saw the LeBlanc and Cassiopeia make an appearance during the series today, as well as his aggressive playmaking that makes the combo between him and Jankos so deadly. With BrokenBlade being arguably the best top laner in the league and Flakked showing extremely impressive games during playoffs, I have this sneaking suspicion that G2’s next bout vs Fnatic will be much less one-sided than the first.
