The Buffalos threaten the comeback before Unified shuts the door in their face. G2 are currently the best team at MSI after they extend their win streak against RNG.

PSG vs SGB

What an exciting, back and forth game from PSG and Saigon Buffalos! PSG stalled out the Saigon comeback with an incredible performance from Unified. I thought the PSG bot laner had his work cut out for him against a surging Shogun, who has been the definitive win condition of the Vietnamese squad, but the veteran managed to step up and put together a transcendent Xayah performance to single-handedly airlift his team out of what looked to be a disappointing loss against the young Buffalos. Kaiwing impressed yet again on his signature Rakan, finding lightning quick engages and setting up his bot laner in the laning phase. I was happy to see Froggy, who has been having a lackluster MSI 2022 thus far, have a good showing on the Veigar counterpick into Bay’s Ahri but was ultimately unable to get the team across the finish line.

G2 vs RNG

It’s official – G2 is currently the best team in the world right now, led by the best player in the world. Caps has simply been transcendent during the teams’ undefeated run, playing better than he has ever played before. However, it’s important to note that he isn’t dragging his team across the finish line with crazy heroics – he is playing well, but his team aren’t any slouches either. I have to give credit to Coach Dylan Falco in not only his drafts but also G2’s pristine teamfighting ability in clutch situations. The European champs are simply invincible in these teamfights, being quite reminiscent of the SKT T1 and Damwon Gaming rosters of days gone by, turning any game state in their favor with their unimpeachable teamfighting.

In basketball, scoring wins you games, but defense wins you championships. In that same vein, in League of Legends, map play and skirmishes can win games, but cohesive teamfighting wins championships – and G2 have the most cohesive teamfighting out of any team at MSI thus far…
