G2 snap Excel’s winning streak and extend their own LEC winning streak with 16 off an MVP game from Caps’s Ahri and clutch Dragon steals from Jankos.

Well, one of these teams had to lose their undefeated streak…

Problem is, Excel win streak was two – G2’s LEC win streak was fifteen coming into this game.

And it showed, with the reigning champions dismantling the Excel upstarts from start to finish, top to bottom, and any other directional advantage you want to include.

Excel’s Ezreal answer into G2’s first pick Lucian didn’t do them too many favors, especially when pairing it up with a supportive mid laner like Twisted Fate. They definitely still could have forced a lot more looks bot than they did, if Nukeduck hadn’t had his hands full with Caps in the mid lane.

Caps and Jankos continue their spree of dominance since returning back home; between Caps’s pickoffs with his now-signature Ahri and Jankos’s two ridiculous Dragon steals, it took me quite a bit of deliberation to decide who to give MVP to this game.

Those are some first world problems if I do say so myself.

I still have a lot of hopes for Excel. With the meta in their favor and more time to gel with Mikyx and form a strong team identity, they are looking poised to make playoffs again this split and potentially do some serious damage.

Usually we see MSI teams have a slow start to the summer split. G2 themselves have been very outspoken about how valuable a break is post-MSI, and how it can pay off dividends during the ever-important time of Worlds Playoffs.

Well Europe must be really bad right now because G2’s last sixteen games in the LEC have all been victories, going back to their playoffs run. MSI only seems to have nailed in their teamplay fundamentals, because they are looking just as composed and poised as they did during their playoffs run, even with the fatigue they should be under.

People would do well to remember that G2’s championship run last split was that of a dark horse, especially with hyped teams like Fnatic, Vitality, and Rogue in the fold. But as of right now, they are looking like the best team in Europe.

By far.
