2022 LEC Summer W2D1: Excel beat Vitality following Nukeduck’s Clutch Assassination on Carzzy in 36 Minute Banger
Excel beat Vitality following Nukeduck’s clutch, late-game assassination on Carzzy in a back and forth 36 minute banger, advancing to 3-1.
Throws and counter-throws be damned as Excel finally manage to defeat Team Vitality. They were firmly in control through the early and mid game due to Markoon’s early game dragon stacking; he was even able to punish Alphari’s overaggression on the Gwen and turn it into the first two kills of the game for his team.
His opposite number was no slouch. Haru was simply exemplary in this game, picking off Patrik’s mispositionings not once but twice, in crucial moments of the game, but Vitality were unable to capitalize off of it and rally together in a coordinated teamfight to shut the door in Excel’s face.
Yes you can argue Wukong’s power level is too high right now, but boy did Haru use every bit of that power to try and carry his anemic team towards victory. The Korean import genuinely looks like a smurf trying to carry his lower elo teammates, but despite his best efforts, is unable to do so.
Vitality still hasn’t completely gelled with their new jungler, however, and multiple times did I see Haru engaging fights that the team was not in position to follow up on. It’s still early in the split and I am not too bothered by it for now, but the later the split goes, the more egregious this trend will become.
Nukeduck had himself a stormer of a game on Ahri, finding key charms, namely the very last one on Carzzy to pick off the ADC and sever the DPS for Vitality. He has been looking more aggressive and proactive since the start of this split and I look forward to seeing if he can lead his team to victory as the supreme veteran of this squad.
MVP: Nukeduck (1)
