League of Legends released a teaser showcasing the newest event: Soul Fighter. Many were confused as to the context of the teaser, thinking it could be news on Riot’s new fighting game, but the teaser is most certainly just for League, confirmed by “Summer Event” in the video title.

Soul Fighter: Summer Event

The “Enter the Arena” teaser is very likely hinting at the long-awaited 2v2v2v2 gamemode planned for League of Legends. Soul Fighter will be the introduction to this gamemode, with the event set to start on July 20. Patch 13.14 is scheduled to release the day before on July 19.

Soul Fighter Leaked Skins

Prolific League of Legends leaker Big Bad Bear reveled a leak listing all of the champions receiving a Soul Fighter skin once the event is live. Allegedly, all skins in these lines will be inspired by iconic fighting game franchises like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Tekken.

According to Big Bad Bear, here’s a list of the expected champions to receive Soul Fighter skins:

  • Samira (Ultimate Skin)
  • Pyke (With Prestige Version)
  • Shaco (With Prestige Version)
  • Sett
  • Gwen
  • Lux
  • Evelynn
  • Jhin
  • Naafiri
  • Viego

As suspected from other leakers, Naafiri’s release skin will tie into the Soul Fighter event.

Customary with any event creating an extended universe in Runeterra, Riot Games dropped a nugget of lore for the event:

“A yearly battle is held to determine the greatest fighter across the land. This “Tournament of Souls” sees competitors of all types – each with their own Soul Power – brawl in fierce one-on-one skirmishes. The top prize is greater than any trophy: a shard of the Soul Gem, said to grant a single wish to those who possess it.”

The Soul Fighter event is shaping up to be lots of fun. With a new 2v2v2v2 gamemode on the way, there will be a lot to look forward to this summer on League of Legends.
