50. Poppy

The first champion on the list is one that certainly would not have made it if it weren’t for her rework, which sparked new life into a previously mundane champion. Her new ultimate magnified strategic aspects of league, while creating a new mechanic. The ability to launch a carry out of a teamfight or remove members from Baron pit to deny the objective is fun to watch and even more fun to take part in.

Poppy saw little to no pro play until the update, which placed her near the top of the tier list for top laners for the proceeding months.

It would be unjust, however, to not mention the horribly designed mess that she left behind, which essentially signifies League’s development. The crazy ultimate that used to make her only be able to take damage from one target, and immune to CC, is emblematic of how League used to be a poorly balanced game full of inept champions. Granted, there are still some dilapidated champions left lying around (ehem, Warwick), but for the most part, we don’t have the full AP Sion from Season 3 running around one-shotting everybody.

As for defending Poppy’s place at number 50, who doesn’t enjoy seeing crazy stuff like this happen? Without characters like Poppy having crazy ultimates, it simply wouldn’t be possible. Also, 50 is a very respectable position, seeing as there are over 100 champions in the game, this means she places at least in the top half. Congratulations Poppy!
