The mid tier list, as well, shows off a lot of strong picks with high mechanical floors. Zed and Ahri were both S tier picks last time we did a low elo tier list. On the other hand, Lux and Zed were the top two A tier mid laners in that last pick.
Those easy low-mechanical picks like Malzahar, Veigar, Annie, and Morgana seem to be doing extremely well in low elo. It definitely seems that you can climb from low elo with champions that have a higher mechanical difficulty.
More effective in low elo:
Yasuo (S vs. A tier)
Lux (S vs. A tier)
Veigar (A vs. B tier)
Vel’Koz (A vs. B tier)
Anivia (A vs. B tier)
Ziggs (A vs. B tier)
Neeko (A vs. B tier)
Diana (B vs. C tier)
Swain (B vs. C tier)
Kayle (B vs. C tier)
Viktor (B vs. C tier)
Less effective in low elo:

Unviable picks that work in low elo:
Brand (C tier)
Heimerdinger (C tier)
Mordekaiser (C tier)
Kennen (D tier)
Galio (D tier)
Aatrox (D tier)
Champion low elo players need to stop playing:
Akali (C tier, 6.8% pick rate)
