While Qiyana’s reveal might have driven him from your mind, Mordekaiser is set to be the next champion release for League of Legends. The Iron Revenant’s new kit and appearance are massive upgrades from his old, pizza-footed model, and he’s likely to make a splash once he arrives. As such, let’s run through the most important things to know about Mordekaiser before he starts dominating your solo queue games.

5. “You only need to click once, fool” is gone

It’s a heartbreaking sentence to read for most Mordekaiser fans, but one of his most iconic lines has been removed from the game. While Morde’s update team fought hard to keep the quote in the game, it just didn’t fit with his new voiceover (and the Summoner-less Runeterra that he’s been updated to join). We’ll pause here for a moment of silence in honor of its removal.

4. Mordekaiser is no longer a Shadow Isles Champion

If you haven’t read his new lore yet (which you totally should, because it’s amazing), you probably haven’t heard that Mordekaiser is no longer associated with the Shadow Isles. Instead, he forged his own realm in the land of death with nothing but his strength of will, before casting aside any connection to mortality. Mordekaiser’s empty armor still hangs in the depths of the Immortal Bastion, waiting for his inevitable return.

This is mostly irrelevant for gameplay, but if you’re trying to make a Shadow Isles-themed team, make sure you take Morde out of the champion pool.
