Rogue (5-8) v Splyce (9-4)

While Friday’s slip-up was unexpected and unacceptable, Splyce will undoubtedly want to return firing in their game against Rogue today. Rogue are shaky and have been extremely inconsistent throughout the split, so Splyce can easily capitalise on this, particularly if star jungle Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir is back on top form.

Splyce will play and win via the Splyce game plan. Slow early game, patiently building a gold lead, and cleanly gain priority on major objectives. It remains to be seen whether Rogue can take down the teams below them, never mind a team as accomplished as Splyce are in the Summer Split.

Prediction – Splyce Win

Origen (6-7) v Schalke 04 (7-6)

Contrary to what the LEC broadcast may want you to believe, the final game of the day is not actually the “Match of the Week”, this is. Yes, that’s right, a battle between two mid table teams should have top billing this week as it has the potential to be one of the most exciting games of the Summer Split.

Origen, a team looking to bounce back from a dire start to the second half of the season and reclaim their place in the top two of Europe. Schalke, a team looking to assert themselves and plant their feet firmly in the top four, hoping for a shot at Worlds in 2019. Both of these sides need a win if they’re to challenge the teams above them and achieve a greater seed heading into the LEC playoffs. Whoever loses may be left scrambling from the teams below them in the final two weeks of the season.

Ultimately it boils down to who has looked stronger throughout the regular season. It’s impossible to predict how Origen will perform week on week, whereas Schalke have continuously shown their capability in and around the mid game and teamfights. The deciding factor will be whether Gang-yun “Trick” Kim can get the better over opposite number Jonas “Kold” Andersen in the jungle and begin to control the game, or if the latter can snowball around the middle of the map to build a gold lead.

Recent form points towards Trick as the likely winner of this battle, but after yesterday’s impressive Origen recover, it still could go either way.

Prediction – Schalke 04 Win

Fnatic (10-3) v G2 Esports (11-2)

The stakes were raised for the LEC Match of the Week after G2 Esports failed to take down Team Vitality due to a questionable top lane Garen pick. Fnatic took full advantage and closed the gap with a convincing victory over Schalke 04 on Friday, meaning this massive match-up is a fight for 1st place.

While G2 are privy to the odd “troll pick”, don’t expect them to mess about in a rivalry as heated as this, particularly with the head-to-head lying in Fnatic’s favour as it stands. The opportunity to go two wins ahead in first and all but confirm their place as the top seed heading into playoffs should have the reigning LEC champions putting 100% effort into this game (for once) and they should blow Fnatic out of the water in the early game.

Only if Fnatic can weather the storm in the first fifteen minutes will they have a chance, otherwise, it’s 2nd place at best for Europe’s most successful ever team.

Prediction – G2 Esports Win
