Origen (6 – 9) vs. Excel Esports (4 – 11)

Origen need to wake up if they want any chance of reaching playoffs, never mind Worlds. They’ve won 1 of their last 6 games and are under immense pressure to find one victory in order to secure a place in the top six. As for Excel, it’s do or die. Three wins in their final three games (including one against G2 Esports) may still not be enough to finish in the top six, despite a miraculous comeback in the second half of the regular season.

On current form, ignoring the events of the Spring Split, Excel are the better team without question. Caedrel’s early presence, Expect’s consistent performances, and Mickey’s huge plays make it difficult for teams to break Excel down, as Fnatic proved yesterday. While Origen have very little going for them, with every player underperforming but no substitutes on the horizon.

To put it simply, Origen NEED wins, and if they can’t get one against Excel Esports today, who can they get them against?

Prediction – Excel Esports Win

Misfits Gaming (4 – 11) vs. G2 Esports (13 – 2)

G2 Esports doing G2 Esports things. Another demolition yesterday against Rogue, will be immediately followed by the dismantling of a Misfits Gaming roster who have lost all spark. Substituting Hans Sama and Doss in hasn’t paid off so far and is unlikely to do so today. Good luck, Misfits!

Prediction – G2 Esports Win

Fnatic (11 – 4) vs. Team Vitality (7 – 8)

This could have been built up as the LEC Match of the Week. Two explosive early game teams at the top end of the table will face off with playoff seeds on the line. But, many fans and analysts expect Fnatic to cleanly wipe the floor with Vitality on Day 2. Something says it won’t be so cut and dried.

Yes, Broxah and Hylissang are immense in the early game and often take over games on their own through intelligent ganks and roams. Yes, Vitality have the propensity to int on occasion and can lose sight of win conditions as Jiizuke tries to 1v3. But, when you look at the current form of both sides, it’s much closer than it seems.

Not only has Mowgli revived his Spring Split performance level, Vitality’s bottom lane is also on fire of recent. The entire team has worked hard to put together an excellent run of games to (nearly) clinch a spot in playoffs and relax for the final two weeks of the regular season.

That being said, Fnatic are one tough nut to crack. If you’ve bypassed the unstoppable early game from their jungle and support duo, you then have to contend with the incredible late game damage provided by Bwipo, Nemesis, and Rekkles. In their win over Excel Esports on Friday, all three output huge amounts of damage in teamfights and could have all been given a Player of the Game award for the win.

Overall, it’s hard to look past Fnatic’s impeccable early game presence and late game decision making when compared to Vitality’s lacklustre areas of control and macro. If they get the right draft and Cabochard/Jiizuke pop off sure, Vitality win this game, but it’s too many ifs and buts for a prediction to go their way. Fnatic should take this one with ease and ramp up the pressure for next week’s huge grudge match with Splyce.

Prediction – Fnatic Win
