The penultimate week of LEC action continues with Day 2. Which teams will secure their places in playoffs? Which teams will be locked out after today? Here are our predictions:

SK Gaming (5 – 10) vs. Splyce (11 – 4)

SK’s win over Team Vitality on Day 1 was more of a demonstration of how poor Europe’s mid-table teams are right now, rather than a sign of SK Gaming’s current strength. Throughout yesterday’s game neither team had any control over the map as EU became NA in an ARAM-style clash. SK only took victory due to poor decision-making from the Vitality line-up.

More from League of Legends

Splyce’s victory over Origen was expected, but still impressive. A very clean performance led by Xerxe and Humanoid. We’ve reached a point of the top three LEC teams being quite far ahead from the rest of the league, as G2, Fnatic, and Splyce should be taking every game from their opponents and securing their places at Worlds over the next month.

Day 2’s clash between Splyce and SK Gaming will be no different. Xerxe simply outclasses Selfmade in the jungle, while every Splyce lane has the ability to overpower their counterparts. SK Gaming will try to play aggressive early and build a gold lead, but Splyce are too intelligent to let that happen and will guide the game into their favour, slowly, meticulously taking down Europe’s 7th place team.

Prediction – Splyce Win

Schalke 04 (9 – 6) vs. Rogue (5 – 10)

On Day 1, Schalke comprehensively took down a poor Misfits Gaming team, while Rogue fell to G2 Esports. Saturday’s match-up between these two sides should be much more competitive, with Rogue hoping to sneak their way into 6th place, and Schalke under pressure to maintain their place in fourth before the regular season ends.

Ultimately, Schalke are accomplished at tackling the teams below them in the table, and only struggle when it comes to facing the better sides. Trick’s complete control of the jungle in the early game combines with Schalke’s excellent teamfighting to create a near-unstoppable unit. Rogue have to find a way to shut down Trick’s early ganks and map control in order to have any chance of coming out on top.

Prediction – Schalke 04 Win
