5. Kim “Clid” Tae-min (SKT) – 80 OVR

One of the biggest reasons that SKT had such massive success this year is that they’ve finally gotten a jungler. Clid is one of the best supportive junglers in the World, averaging gold and experience advantages at the 15-minute mark and posting the second-best vision score per minute (2.27) at Worlds while doing it in one of the toughest regions for junglers. Among the top four junglers in his champion pool for the summer – Sejuani, Lee Sin, Jarvan, and Skarner – he has a win rate above 70% on all of them with a KDA of at least 5.

4. Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong (Griffin) – 82 OVR

Tarzan is often called the best jungler in the World, and the stats definitely make the case for him. For all the people that claim he’s a “carry jungler” though, Tarzan was actually surprisingly more supportive in the summer, playing mostly Sejuani, Olaf, and Jarvan (though he is also one of the few junglers to break out the Kha’Zix and Evelynn). With a 1.92 kills per game and 0.11 solo kills per game being far below the average for junglers at Worlds, it’s odd to say that some of Tarzan’s most impressive stats are his low death count (1.42, the lowest among all junglers), KDA numbers (3.97 Kill Efficiency), and vision control (1.98 VSPM).

3. Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang (FunPlus Phoenix) – 85 OVR

The young jungler really made an impact in his second year in the LPL and his summer stats make a strong case for Tian being one of the best junglers in the World. For instance, his 371.2 aGPM and 377 aDPM are each in the top four among Worlds junglers. He also tends to play a lot of unique, exciting picks, as he pulled out Aatrox and Xin Zhao jungle a fair bit during the Summer Split and then Rek’Sai in the playoffs.

2. Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski (G2) – 91 OVR

Jankos is far and away the most impressive jungler I’ve seen in 2019, given how massively he’s outperformed junglers in one of the best regions in the world. His 3.93 aKDA, 1.13 Laning Score, and 381.3 aDPM are both top two in the Worlds jungle pool.

What’s even more impressive, to me, is his champion pool. Of his four most-played champions (Jarvan, Sejuani, Sylas, Elise) on which he played 14 games in the Summer Split, he has one loss. And given his willingness to pick up new champions like the Qiyana jungle, Jankos is a man to be feared in the jungle.

1. Đỗ “Levi” Duy Khánh (GAM Esports) – 96 OVR

I know, I know, he’s doing it against very weak competition. I know, I know, he’s padding stats on a team with massive deficiencies on the bottom-half of the map. But holy hell the numbers that Levi put up in the VCS are mind-boggling.

Here are the statistical categories Levi leads junglers with: kills per game, solo kills per game, adjusted KDA, Kill Efficiency, raw gold per minute, raw gold share, adjusted gold per minute, raw damage and damage share, adjusted damage per minute, gold difference at 15, CS difference at 15, experience difference at 15, and laning score. The only two statistical categories isn’t first in he’s still far above average. To fully grasp exactly how dominant Levi was during the Summer Split, here’s Levi compared to the top three junglers in each of the major metrics we track:

  • Kill Efficiency: Levi (4.46 KE), Closer (4.01 KE), Tarzan (3.97 KE)
  • Adjusted Gold per Minute: Levi (400.6 aGPM), Shrimp (384.0 aGPM), Jankos (381.8 aGPM)
  • Adjusted Damage per Minute: Levi (456.1 aDPM), Jankos (381.3 aDPM), Tian (377 aDPM)
  • Laning Score:

    Levi (2.51), Jankos (1.13), DNK (1.11)

The only major stat Levi doesn’t lead in is vision score per minute (2.05) where he’s still in the top five. The fact that he’s playing in a less-talented region honestly doesn’t scare me given just how massively he’s dominated. This could change against better competition, but even if we only get 80% of Levi’s VCS performance at Worlds, he will shock a lot of people.

The League of Legends World Championship kicks off Tuesday, October 2 at 7:00 EST / 13:00 CEST.
