League of Legends Patch 9.19 mid lane tier list aggregation – how OP is Pantheon mid?
By Josh Tyler
New Additions
Pyke
Camille
Renekton
From the depths (or the support lane) Pyke has re-emerged to the mid lane for the first time since Patch 9.12. In case you think this is a wonky, gadget pick, note that he is actually considered to be stronger than he was when he first entered the mid lane tier list.
We also saw Camille and Renekton re-enter the mid lane meta as flex picks. Neither is particularly good and really only exist to counterpick specific matchups.
New subtractions
Tristana
Morgana
Mid lane Tristana, it was nice knowing you, as she drops out of the mid lane tier list after four patches in the F tier. Although she’s going to see play at Worlds, I hope people don’t invest a lot of time into a fairly unviable champion in solo queue.
On the other hand, seeing Morgana leave is quite a bit sadder, as she leaves the mid lane tier list for the first time since the rework. Receiving multiple nerfs after the rework release, she consistently dropped in our tier list until she reached the very bottom in the F tier last patch.
Rising Champions
Yasuo (B+ to A tier)
Twisted Fate (B to B+ tier)
Orianna (C to B tier)
Vel’Koz (C to B tier)
Mordekaiser (D to C tier)
Heimerdinger (F to C tier)
Rumble (D to C tier)
Aatrox (F to C tier)
Malphite (F to D tier)
Nocturne (F to D tier)
Azir (F to D tier)
Jayce (F to D tier)
Observations
We will set aside those champions who got directly buffed in Patch 9.19 – Twisted Fate, Orianna, Mordekaiser, Heimerdinger, and Aatrox – for later. There are also a couple of champions that got very slight improvements on the tier list but rose on our tier list because they were close to that next tier last patch. So Vel’Koz, Nocturne, Azir, and Jayce would fall into these categories and may very well just drop back down a tier next patch.
The first of the remaining champions, Yasuo, didn’t see a significant increase to his win rate or pick rate, nor did any of his major counters get nerfed (one of his big counters, Mordekaiser, actually got buffed). I’m not sure why Yasuo rose into the A tier, but I’ll be sure to track this for next time.
Rumble, however, saw his win rate rise by 0.9%, which explains why he is now in our C tier. Ditto for Malphite, whose win rate actually rose significantly (by 2%). I’m guessing that the reason Malphite’s win rate spiked like this is to counter those AD Bruisers mid like Irelia and Camille.
