Here are our top five strongest mid lane champions for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends solo queue ladder on Patch 10.5!

With bot laners being forced to scale, junglers under-leveled, and top laners in the same state they’ve always been in, there is only one role that can reliably and consistently carry League of Legends games on Patch 10.5: Mid lane.

The current mid lane meta is vast with control mages, assassins, and even a few tanks meaning it is essential that your champion pool contains a wide range of characters for every scenario.

If you’re looking to expand your list of playable champions or just want to start playing mid lane, this list of the top 5 mid lane champions on Patch 10.5 is for you!

5) Cassiopeia

51.18% Win Rate | 5.0% Pick Rate | 7.5% Ban Rate

Strong scaling, control in team fights, and a potentially game-changing ultimate are all in Cassiopeia’s repertoire and it’s no surprise that she makes this list with the amount of damage she’s capable of outputting in the later stages of games.

When playing Cassio, it’s key to play a very safe laning phase, avoiding ganks with intelligent usage of Miasma and summoner spells.

Then, after purchasing an Archangel’s Staff, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, and Liandry’s Torment, you are online. Use quick fingers to fire out Twin Fangs towards the closest enemy champion to chunk them out and turn the tide of a team fight in your team’s favor.

4) Talon

52.23% Win Rate | 5.5% Pick Rate | 6.0% Ban Rate

If you’re a fan of AD assassins in the mid lane, there’s only one acceptable choice on Patch 10.5.

Talon’s 52.23% win rate is only beaten by Nocturne when it comes to physical damage dealers in the mid lane, making him an ideal pick for when your team is stacking too many mages.

The key to Talon is roaming with Boots of Mobility and Assassin’s Path to either side lane to pick up kills for yourself or your team to then snowball into the mid game with a few lethality items under your belt.

3) Ekko

51.72% Win Rate | 5.4% Pick Rate | 25.2% Ban Rate

Ekko jungle may be on the decline, but Ekko mid lane remains strong with excellent dueling power, team fight utility, and split pushing advantage. Combine this with the upcoming Teleport changes on Patch 10.6, and it may be the perfect time to add Ekko to your champion pool.

2) Kassadin

50.94% Win Rate | 6.9% Pick Rate | 27.1% Ban Rate

As long as high damage mages dominate the mid lane meta, Kassadin will be strong thanks to Void Stone and Null Sphere.

In a similar fashion to Cassiopeia, Kassadin is all about scaling and rolling over the opposition in late game team fights. If you make it to Level 16 on Kassadin it is game over, so ensure you have the relevant tools on your team to allow safe passage to the late game before drafting the Void Walker.

1) Diana

52.19% Win Rate | 9.5% Pick Rate | 21.3% Ban Rate

Isn’t it about time Diana received a strong nerf? Ever since her rework, she’s been #1 in the mid lane tier list and no champion has been able to match her for burst damage and team fight utility.

But what do we care! We just want free LP! Blind pick, counter pick, it doesn’t matter!

Before heading into solo queue, it’d be wise to practice a few of Diana’s Crescent StrikeLunar RushMoonfall combos, or you may look a bit silly trying to engage and falling on your face!
