Here are our top five strongest support champions for carrying games and climbing the League of Legends solo queue ladder on Patch 10.5!

Support has become one of the most important roles in League of Legends over the last few seasons, particularly in the early game. That remains the case on Patch 10.5!

Whether it’s buffing up your ADC, picking off vulnerable enemy squishies, or setting up team fights with game-changing crowd control, supports are vital to the success of a team in solo queue.

Here are our top five choices in the support role on Patch 10.5:

5) Bard

52.07% Win Rate | 6.6% Pick Rate | 1.5% Ban Rate

A well-placed Tempered Fate can single-handedly win a team fight and game which alone should be enough for you to consider adding Bard to your support champion pool.

Bard has high early damage, excellent gank set up with Cosmic Binding, and mobility through Magical Journey which allows you to link up with your jungler and place down deep vision during the laning phase.

4) Taric

52.36% Win Rate | 3.5% Pick Rate | 3.2% Ban Rate

While a perfectly placed Tempered Fate can win you the game, a perfectly TIMED Cosmic Radiance can do just the same. Taric is often overlooked when it comes to the support role, but he has all the necessary tools for a support main to carry games and find wins.

Landing Dazzle is one of the most important skills for Taric players and, if mastered, allows you to win the bot lane 2v2 almost every time. If timed correctly, an E-Flash combo is unavoidable for an enemy carry (unless they predict it) making it one of the most deadly abilities in the bot lane.

3) Nami

52.57% Win Rate | 11.1% Pick Rate | 0.8% Ban Rate

The only enchanter support on this list is Nami as she can both buff her ADC while providing crowd control to peel and kick off team fights.

Unlike other meta supports, it’s vital that you play safe and avoid giving up needless kills during the laning phase. Move up to poke opponents with Ebb and Flow when there’s an opportunity, but otherwise, be patient in the early game and wait for jungle assistance.

2) Blitzcrank

51.31% Win Rate | 10.5% Pick Rate | 22.8% Ban Rate

The low elo player’s nightmare. Blitzcrank’s Rocket Grab is one of the most annoying and tilt-inducing abilities in League of Legends, particularly if you’re playing at the lower MMRs of solo queue.

While the power of this ability is evident during the laning phase, it’s most effective when used during the mid game to find picks and extend an early gold lead.

Grab a Sweeper’s Lens, clear out vision, and group up with your team around a major objective. Wait in a bush until an unsuspecting enemy wanders into sight before casting Rocket Grab for a free kill. This can be used over and over throughout the mid game to propel your team into a major gold lead.

1) Leona

50.42% Win Rate | 10.8% Pick Rate | 31.3% Ban Rate

Leona remains the #1 support pick of 2020 on Patch 10.5 as she’s once again avoided major nerfs and continues to lock down enemy carries with endless crowd control.

You have two options if the enemy team locks in Leona: Dodge or take Cleanse. If you do neither, a single Zenith Blade will probably result in your death, especially after Level 6.
