Our LCS Summer 2020 Week 5 player power ranking ranks the supports and we hand out our weekly awards.

Support

1. Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme (Cloud9)
2. Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in (Team Liquid)
3. Lee “Ignar” Dong-geun (FlyQuest)
4. Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam (Evil Geniuses)

One player who is not getting nearly enough fingers pointed at him for the poor EG performance in Week 5 is Zeyzal. His 0/6/6 Tahm Kench game was a big reason why they lost to Golden Guardians (but Kumo inting his face off certainly didn’t help matters). Against CLG, he was marginally better, going 0/3/7 on Braum.

5. Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent (Immortals)
6. Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun (Golden Guardians)
7. Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere (100 Thieves)
8. Andy “Smoothie” Ta (CLG)
9. Vincent “Biofrost” Wang (TSM)

With the recent news that he is being benched by TSM in favor of Academy support Treatz, it’s a good time to take a look at exactly what got Biofrost here and how he can fix it. The long and short of it is that he simply dies too much.

His 3 deaths per game are second-worst in the LCS among supports and he leads all players in his position in unforced deaths with 16 (the next-closest player is Smoothie with 11). Both of those statistics are way up from spring where he averaged 1.7 deaths per game and was tied for fourth in terms of unforced deaths (he only had 10 all split).

In short, Biofrost is having a down split. That said, this could easily be something that he can recover from. His 2.70 vision score per minute is among the best in the LCS, as is are his 7.8 assists per game. Maybe with a week to reset, he can come back next week and start limiting those low-quality deaths.

10. William “Stunt” Chen (100 Thieves)
11. Austin “Gate” Yu (Immortals)
12. Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black (Dignitas)
