LCS Summer 2020 Week 8 is in the books, here is where the teams sit in our LCS power rankings.

3. TSM (11-5)

Elo: 438 (+29)

Remaining schedule: Golden Guardians, Team Liquid
Average elo of remaining opponents: 438

A massive win over Cloud9 keeps TSM’s slim hopes at a first-round bye alive, but honestly they still have an uphill climb. Even though they now have split the season series against C9 and have the opportunity to do the same when they play Team Liquid next week, they dropped both games against FlyQuest in Summer 2020, meaning they would lose out in the event of a tiebreaker.

That means, even though TSM has a one-game lead over FlyQuest, should FLY win both of their games (with the easiest-remaining schedule), TSM will likely be out unless there is some funny business surrounding a three-way tie with C9 as well. Although TSM is looking much better since the roster swap for Treatz and they just got a big win, they’re still in a rather poor position when it comes to getting a first-round bye.

2. Cloud9 (11-5)

Elo: 443 (-30)

Remaining schedule: Dignitas, CLG
Average elo of remaining opponents: 286

Somehow, we’ve gotten from a team that lost all of one game in the Spring Split to them now being a team that has lost double that number of games in a week. It might seem doom and gloom for C9 right now, but honestly, they’re still in a prime position to still lock down that first-round bye.

First, they have that one-game lead over FlyQuest, as well as owning the tiebreaker over FLY. This means that a single win by Cloud9 will put FlyQuest out of the running for that top-two spot.

Second, although they did just lose to TSM and would now have to face their rivals in a tiebreaker should the two teams end the split with the same record, C9 has a much easier remaining schedule than TSM. Even with the recent downturn in play and as desperate as DIG and CLG will be, I don’t think there’s any way that Cloud9 doesn’t manage to win both of those games.

1. Team Liquid (13-3)

Elo: 487 (+3)

Remaining schedule: Immortals, TSM
Average elo of remaining opponents: 360

The number one team, all but guaranteed that first-round bye, they have a relatively soft schedule and need only a single win to secure that bye. The match against TSM, while many are calling it a possible finals preview, will likely give Liquid a chance to play spoiler to their old mate Doublelift. While they certainly have not been one of the sexier teams over the Summer Split when it comes to their drafts and playstyles, TL has been the pinnacle of consistency this split.
