TFT Patch 10.16 Breakdown: We Are Salvaging Our LP
By Josh Tyler
We break down TFT Patch 10.16 and discuss the newest galaxy coming to Teamfight Tactics!
Tier 1 Champions
Fiora
"Health: 450 ⇒ 500"
50 extra health is nice for Fiora, but she’s overall still too weak to be a major centerpiece of a Blademaster or Cybernetic comp. Decent early unit but rarely a unit you’re putting items on.
Illaoi
3-star Spell Damage: 325 ⇒ 400
3-star Defense Steal: 60% ⇒ 80%
Riot made a lot of changes to champions at the 3-star level to make hyper rolling a bit more viable. I don’t think these changes make Illaoi a priority pick now, but it could make it a bit more attractive to go for 3-stars if you get a lot of Illaoi’s early.
Leona
"3-star Spell Damage Reduction: 200 ⇒ 400"
This, on the other hand, is a very significant buff to 3-star Leona. She’s already one of the best damage-soaking units in TFT and this change could supplant some Vanguards like Nautilus in non-Cyber comps.
Malphite
"3-star Spell Shield: 60% ⇒ 70%"
A decent buff to Malphite at 3-stars, but I don’t think you’re ever going to care about him unless you’re going a full Rebel comp.
Poppy
"3-star Spell Damage: 200 ⇒ 225 3-star Spell Shield: 400 ⇒ 450"
A massive buff to Poppy that could actually let the old Candyland comp come back into the meta (back when it got nerfed, her shield strength was 500 and damage was 250).
Ziggs
"3-star Spell Damage: 550 ⇒ 600"
Along with Poppy, this is the only change that really speaks to making hyper rolling a viability. With Rebels also getting buffed and Demolitionists strong, Ziggs could be poised to make a surge to the top of the meta in Patch 10.16.
Tier 2 Champions
Ahri
"3-star Spell Damage: 375 ⇒ 425"
Ahri’s already one of the strongest Sorcerers in the game, so this just makes her hyper roll potential even greater. With the changes to Poppy mentioned above, the Star Guardians could be ruling the galaxy.
Annie
"3-star Spell Damage: 600 ⇒ 700 3-star Spell Shield: 700 ⇒ 800"
Annie’s just never been a very good unit outside of her Mech synergy and unfortunately I don’t know if these buffs change that. Certainly, her spell does a lot of damage, but there are just more good Sorcerers out there to prioritize.
Blitzcrank
"3-star Spell Damage: 850 ⇒ 1337"
Although you aren’t building Blitzcrank for his damage, getting more out of Blitz can add even more impact to his game-changing ability. I wouldn’t say that this makes him hyper roll-worthy, but he’s definitely worth building up to 3-stars now.
Darius
"3-star Spell Damage: 800 ⇒ 888"
While there’s always been a push to find a build that would make Darius a viable carry unit, I’m not sure if these late-game buffs will be enough. I’ll experiment with this in Patch 10.16 but I’m not putting all my eggs in the Darius carry basket.
Lucian
"3-star Spell Damage: 550 ⇒ 625"
Lucian’s already a strong unit with the right synergy and items. 75 extra damage at 3-stars could definitely push him over the edge to becoming a top-tier carry.
Mordekaiser
"3-star Spell Shield: 800 ⇒ 875"
This is more along the lines of Blitzcrank where the buff will make going 3-star Morde more attractive but I don’t necessarily think he’ll be a hyper roll candidate.
Nautilus
"3-star Spell Damage: 400 ⇒ 500 3-star Base Stun Duration: 5 ⇒ 6 sec"
The most significant aspect of this buff is the extra second on the stun. I’m not sure if this is worth hyper rolling for, but it definitely makes Nautilus a bit more of a beast late game.
Shen
"3-star Dodge Duration: 5 ⇒ 6 sec 3-star Bonus MR: 45 ⇒ 90"
Doubling Shen’s bonus MR when his ult is active is absolutely bananas and could make him a ridiculously strong counter to Sorcerers if they make the resurgence I’m expecting to see.
Zed
"Attack Damage Steal: 20/25/40% ⇒ 20/33/50%"
Zed’s gotten a bit weaker since the recent nerfs, but I think he’s still a fine candidate to build around in the right comp (Rebels/Blademasters with Blade of the Ruined King). This boosts his power and makes him a viable hyper roll candidate.
